Lawn cutting

Hello everyone: Have a question rergarding an older riding mower as best as i can tell from buying parts I have an older 111 model I replaced the drive belt on it and after putting the deck back on and operating the tractor everything worked except when I activate the blades by pulling the control lever the Engine dies.any ideas?

Frozen spindle bearing, or tensioner pulley bearing? can you rotate the blades and belt assembly by hand?

If the problem is not the above, it could be in the government-approved safety wiring system. If the tractor "thinks" its in reverse, or "thinks" there's no one on the seat, it might shut the engine down.
