I picked up the metal I need to weld into the floor of the loader bucket 9 after I cut the old floor out). Also grabbed some more hyd fittings so i can route the hyd lines a bit differently ( hopefully ).

I got some more 90' angle adapters today and re-routed 2 of my hyds hoses that were in the way of my brake and clutch pedals.. with the new adapters, the hoses lay almost perfect.

I did have to make a 'standoff' out of a piece of 1" x 1/8" flat stock, drilled with a 3/8 hole at one end which I mounted under a tranny cover bolt, on the left front of the tranny. I also drilled 2 smaller holes near the end o fthe stock so i coul lay a hyd hose across it then use a zip tie to hold it. This keeps the hose for the big SA lift cyl from rubbing the gear shifter.. looks pretty decent.

I also had time to cut the rotten floor out o fthe bucket. I ende dup cutting a 36" piece out ( bucket is 39.5" wide.. so my piece to stitch in is about 37" x 39.5" )

I'm looking forward to that on friday morning perhaps.

I don't have a big torch bottle set ( just small ones ).. so i used a 4" angle grinder. i was prepaired for a long haul.. but it pretty much cut the rusty 1/8? metal like butter.

Took 2 4" 'cutting' blades, and about an hour to cut the floor out, plus the 2 brace strips and angle across the bottom of the bucket.

slowly but surely she is coming along.

I think i have the hyd leak at the unused 'drop' port on the valve fixed. i had originally used a short 9/16 bolt and oring to plug the port.. but it tended to dribble.. so i got a real 3/8 orb fitting for it with a male jic nipple, and jic cap.. so leak should be gone now.

Yep.. bracketry.. got to love it!

I got up early this am and went and got some bales of hay for my horses. i normally get 700-850# coastal bales.. but we had some tifton 85 come in.. and were around 1000-1200# and only 4$ more. I decided to try my luck with them

After I got home I remembered that my loader only lifts a max of 1200 or 1300 #.. so i got kinda worried. The 700-850# bales seemd bad enough.

Well.. the old 660 lifted it... grunted hard and nearly flattened the fronts.. but lifted it so i could drive the trailer out from under it, then just drop it on the ground .. I'm very impressed by these 1-arm loades.

After that i cleaned up the bucket a bit with the grinder so i had all good clean metal edges in prep for welding in the new floor.

I spot welded the metal floor to the back of the bucket, and then used ratchet straps to curl the metal down along the contour of the bucket sides. I then used a hi-ligt jack and a piece of timber to get the metal edges smooth and flat, and then spot welded every 6" or so.

Had to go to work after that, but as it stands.. the new floor is spot welded in.

I used my 70a arc welder and some 6011 1/16 rod for the spot welding as I was out int he barn close to my tools doing this ( no 220 at barn...welder plug is in garage. ). This weekend I'll pull the tractor up tot he garage and buzz the floor in with soemthing that looks good.. like 7018ac or 6013 on a 3/32 rod and my big hobart arc welder.

Well today I got off to a late start.

I did some more welding on the seems for the laoder bucket, and i have 1 more seam to weld but ran out of rod.. will finish tomorrow afternoon maybee if I can get by napa or TSC to get some rod. I ran up to wallmart as they usually carry 1lb packs.. That would have got me finished.. but for some reason my loacal walmart no longer has the little 70a stick or flux welder.. or the supplies!!

In any case, since I was finished for the day on the welding.. I decided to build the '15 minute / 15$ " 3pt concrete counterweight for my new laoder tractor.

I recovered an old cattle feed tub from the junk pile, and yet another old 3pt drawbar that has seen better days, and my last good pice of flat stock. It's now 'curing'.. Should be good to go tomorrow... not that the laoder will be done any time soon ( I still got to clean it up, prime and paint it before i can go scratch it up! )

Well I finished welding the floor in yesterday, and added some braces to the seams. I ground my welds.. and though they are not perfect.. they are pretty decent considdering i was working with such thin metal, and the condition it was in.. etc.

Now all i have to do is clean it up, prime and paint it.

Pics on wednesday!

I have a dumb question please: Does the bucket on those 1 arm loaders end up being centered on the tractor or is it offset to the loader arm side just a bit? I can't really tell from the pictures. Thanks.

Nearly centered. It may be a couple inches off center.. but that's about it. The lift support is mounted off center to the left of the tractor, and then the bucket support is mount off center to the right to help correct for it.

Those one armed loaders just look plain weird to me. :)

For the longest time.....the word's 'soundguy' and 'Front End loader' were just not spoken  in the same sentence. Then one FEL showed up.....now another FEL shows up. I think I see a pattern developing here. :D

I had to cave in and get the fel when i hurt my back a few years ago. My wife's a thin little school teacher and can't lift a 50# bag of grain, and my medical orders were no lifting over 20#.. and all the animals were still hungry. The loader worked great. We could slide the bags off the stacks into the laoder buckets and tote then to the animal pens, and just opent he bags leaving them ont he laoder and pour out as needed.

When i found out that the laoder was kinda rare-ish.. I started looking out for another one.. and got lucky!

Had I not hurt my back.. i doubt I would hve a fel today.. let alone 2 of em.

I have also found the FEL to be a great back saver. A super multi-purpose transportation Device. A very proficient wheel barrow with the hydraulic arms. ...and a terrific helper, always ready to work when I am. :)

Well today i got the right headlamp installed, along with a left ? uh head/work lamps, and a rear fender work lamp.

The 711 loader frame blocks the normal left headlamp location, so I mounte dthe left lamp on my loader itself, similar to what I did on my 660. ( On my 660 I mounted the lamp to the holder that used to hold the hyd filter for a 722 loader. ) the 711 has no such bracket, so I did some creative bracketry ( read: cheap ) and came up with this... It's a large band clamp around the loader frame support, and holds the lamp on real good..

With one headlamp in the 'normal' position and one offset to the left, it actually gives you a real wide angle view of the world when it is dark..

I also installed a light duty but decorative front bumper / grill protector much like my 660 had. Not super bbfy.. but should keep things off my radiator and front grill.

Would also like to note.. For people with a fel... you might want to slide an extra bolt thru the front axle on each side considering the load we are puting on these 'leaf' style front axles.
