Larry's axle kit with 62D question

   / Larry's axle kit with 62D question #11
My deck DOES NOT have the same top plate..

My unit is pretty much closed unit - no removable part at all - but it sorta/kinda looks like it has a pressed in plug on it - that may be removable, but just not easily..

I wish mine had the bolt on top like yours, it would make oil changes easier..

2malamutes,
I believe the vent/cap on my 62d is like yours. It is loose and spins freely and honestly, seems rather flimsy. I'll have to take a closer look later today.

My 62D, purchased last spring, has no vent.

Incidentally, I've been collecting the pieces to make my own axle stands, including 7/8" and 5/8" steel round stock and four 8" steel wheels with hard rubber tires.

After looking at the "Larry's" axle stands, I can't figure out how the wheels are big enough. They don't look like they're even 8 inches and I figure that with 8" wheels, the gauge wheel adjusters will have only about 1/2" clearance to the ground.

Anyway, my design will be a 10" long piece of 7/8" round stock, with a 3 inch piece of 5/8" round stock welded on each end. Then, I'll cross-drill the 5/8" stock to pin the wheels on.

Hope it works, but if it doesn't, I won't have much invested.

If I get time this afternoon I'll take a pic of the deck and stand. Clearance didn;t seem to be an issue, even on the gravel driveway.

While the attached pic doesn't illustrate the clearance well, there is plenty of clearance with the "Larry's" wheels. Since the adjusters are parallel to the axles, you would have to have a _/\_ shaped profile between the two wheels for the clearance to be an issue. I think you are more likely to get high centered going over something front to back than have issues with clearance between the axles.

I used 8" wheels and the wheel height adjusters hit the floor at times.. I am thinking about getting some 10" wheels for it..
