ANY INPUT ON LANDINI TRACTORS WOULD BE NICE,

TO GET AT A RESONABLE PRICE WITH GOOD SUPPORT
FROM THE DEALERS. I WOULD LIKE ANY INFORMATION
THAT ANYONE CAN GIVE ME GOOD OR BAD.
INFORMATION THAT I HAVE SEEN SAYS THEY ARE THE 5TH
LARGEST TRACTOR MFG IS THIS TRUE IF SO WHO IS
THE OTHER TOP 4 LARGEST.

WHAT???????

Please don't post in all caps. It is considered shouting.

The top 4 would be New Holland, Kubota, John Deere, and Mahindra. That seems to be fairly well documented and agreed upon. The 5th position seems to be claimed by about 20 different manufacturers. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Landini's in Canada are all agricultural tractors and are right up with the other ag players. Their smaller models are mostly vineyard etc models.

Notice that Landini claims to be the 4th or 5th largest in the world, not just the US market.

I am talking worldwide figures. In the U.S. market, they are practically non-existant.

My son-in-law's father has one he bought from a dealer close to his home in east-central Mississippi. I think it's about 50 HP at the engine. I've only talked to him once about it after he had owned it for several months. He was well pleased with it, but his previous tractor was kind of ancient /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. I have no knowledge about the long term reliability or dealer/parts support.

I wouldn´t say that they had been non-existent. Maybe not as Landini. But Landini belonged to MF a few years ago and smaller MF had been Landini in red.

Landini has been in the USA for over 20 years. I remember seeing them at farm shows in the early '80s, and have brochures from then to prove it. They were owned by Massey from 1959 until 2000 when AGCO sold the last 9% of the company. ARGO purchased 66% in 1989, and Iseki bought a portion in 1994. Landini built tractors for Iseki, and may still.

In the USA, they have been distributed by Massey, AGCO until 1998, American Jawa (98-2001), Landini USA (2001-). They still build some Massey's and also (some of) the New Holland TCE series.

ARGO later purchased the Valpadana tractor brand, (very few of these in the USA), and in 2000 bought the McCormick brand from Case-New Holland.

I'd say they are good tractors.

If you are talking most tractors sold in the world, Massey Ferguson is the most sold brand of tractor in the world in terms of units per year.
CNH is number one in terms of total tractors under two brands - New Holland and CaseIH and Deere is number three. Kubota is almost non-existent outside of North America and Asia, but is making strides in western Europe.

I have a 254 Massey Ferguson (Landini) - I have been able to get parts at our local MF dealer - it has the 50hp Perkins diesel, 12 gears ahead with crawler gear - 4 speeds reverse - my tractor has approx 4000 hrs and runs perfect, burns no oil and is easy on fuel - the 4x4 is very handy when needed - very powerful 3ph - I have a heavy duty Allied FEL and the tractor operates it with ease - I am putting a frame mounted Backhoe on it shortly (purchased) - I am very happy with the tractor, its ease of operation, the power when needed and parts have been easy to find so far.

This is 2014-does anyone have any updated thoughts on Landini tractors (early 2000 years) as far as quality, parts availability, etc.?

G'day from Australia! I too have an MF 254 but I'm looking for a workshop manual. Do you have one and if so, could please tell me where I might find one. I need something that will guide me through clutch replacement and brake overhaul. I've done it on other Masseys but not this one and as you know, there are big differences. Regards, Chris

hi. Jus bought a very old Landini R6000 special (using AD4-203 engine). Hoping to rebuild it. Engine parts are very easy to obtain here but um struggling to get a hydraulic oil filter for it. Anybody who can help find the part number for it? The housing measures diameter about 72 mm and height about 110 mm. um currently working on rebuilding the engine and being new to tractors may I kindly ask for tips on ignition timing.
