Land Pride Brush Hog

My dealer sells Land Pride and Bea Rice. I asked about Bea Rice in this forum and got zero response. It's a locallly manufacutered company and looks pretty sturdy.

Is a brand new 5' Land Pride Brush Hog a quality product. I looked at King Kutter and it was already rusting. I just read the post about Woods and don't want to deal with them eaither. The prices for Bush Hog are way too much.

I can get the unknown Bea Rice for $595 or the Land Pride for $795. The dealer said the Land Pride has a much sturdier gearbox, is better built and he's never had a complaint. He sells more Bea Rice and has had only one come back with gear box problems which he replaced.

Seems to me the $200 more is worth it. Is there another brand I should consider?

As you can see, every impliment I have is Land Pride. I have nothing but great things to say about their equipment so far. I have compared them to John Deere's equipment and it is as good or better built. I have been eyeing an RCR 2660 myself. I like the features on this cutter. I believe you may be looking at a 16 series rotary cutter. Depending on the intended use and size/pto hp tractor, this should do wel also. I feel you will be VERY happy with the Land Pride rotary cutter. You can buy cheaper equipment but how well will it hold up and how well thought out are the safety features? Compare and to with the model you like best. The old adage "you pay for what you get one way or another" is very true.

I've got a five foot Land Pride and while I'm not sure I love it, I sure do repsect it. It cuts up to about 1 1/2", and has taken plenty of abuse. I've got a few dents in the deck, but they came from hitting some pretty big logs or rocks. But with blades sharp, it makes things look like a finish mower did the job...well almost. Blades were easy to change once I got the right wrenches. I added safety chains front and back and I don't launch dog and driver-damaging projectiles as often anymore. But can't compare it to others as it's all I've used. So consider this a second "no problems here" endorsement. My dealer offers a couple of brands, but sells lots of Land Pride.
