After shredding the first time 6ish hours total on the machine I began hearing this noise.
It almost sounds like the tractor is welding on itself. There are zaps and then a welding noise.
Dealer wasn't too worried about it. They said if anything were arcing, it would make the tractor go haywire.
Any idea what to check? Kubota L471 noise - YouTube

Could it be a loose ground wire? I've seen things arching around that before when one was loose.

I'm not hearing anything unusual in the video. Maybe I'm missing it. Man, I wish my 4701 was that clean! 8.7 hours on mine.

Try running it at night to see if there is anything arcing.

Sounds like a pretty normal diesel engine to me. Diesels have a "clatter" when they run, particularly at low rpm's. You'll also find the clatter is loudest when the engine is cold and it quiets down after it warms up, but it's never going to sound like a Porsche or BMW.

I can hear something that sounds like oil cavitation - does it change when turning the steering wheel?

I hear nothing unusual at all in the you tube clip. If it is anything arcing you would probably know it big-time (as the dealer said) for reasons other than hearing it ! rbargeron has a good point -- maybe you are hearing hydraulic hissing when the steering wheel is turned to one lock or the other ? I doubt very seriously that you are hearing arcing. For one thing there is no high voltage on a diesel. Arcing requires about 33,000 volts per inch of air gap and 12v does not go very far. If it were a loose battery cable or other electrical thing/accessory of some sort you would see that accessory go intermittent and on/off. I'd go get another set of eyeballs (another experienced person) to look and listen.

Is this by any chance a hydrostatic transmission ? You can get some rather interesting noises from a hydrostat at times.

The noise I hear in the video is like bacon frying - high frequency and faint. It's most noticeable listening with headphones. It gets drowned out when engine speeds up, and comes back when engine returns to idle.

I'm assuming it's loudest where the camera is pointing - the hydraulic steering controller is right there behind the fuel filter in the picture, so that's why I thought it might be hydraulic noise.

I'd expect that, if electrical, an arc noise like that would come from higher voltage than a diesel tractor has anywhere.

Seems like sometimes it gets worse when the wheel is turned.
