Bob......yes this is exactly the situation I am contemplating and that is exactly the type of mower I am thinking about needing to have. I would likely experience the same sorts of issues you mention. Thanks for the info on this. I don't have the operator manuals on the 4400 and the m4800 but the back of the 4800 is much stronger and heavier, easily noticeable just by looking.

Yeah, I went this AM and put the money down and bought the 4400. They deliver it in Christmas Eve Day, in the morning. They're welding on two hooks on the bucket, filling the tires with methanol and fuel tank with diesel, and are bringing it to the house.
I'm stoked about getting the tractor, but down about incurring the debt. Even though it's essentially free money, at 0%, and even better when you factor in the CPI (6%), it's still debt, something I haven't had in awhile. On the bright side, I didn't have to pay TN sales tax of 10%, and I get to depreciate it over 5 years, so that helps. Plus it allows me to keep my cash position stronger.
Now I get to play with my new toy, er-tool. I'm looking forward to it.

I hate being in debt too. But if you have to be in debt, land is the best reason, and a tractor isn't far behind. They hold their value extremely well and if everything went south 6 months from now, you could get most of your money back.
I think so too, or I wouldn't have done it. The land is paid for, and I will get to depreciate the machine on taxes, so I shouldn't complain. Besides, if the world does go to he!! in the next year or so, a good tractor will certainly help with the tasks necessary to survive in it-plowing, planting, clearing, logging etc. Heckuva lot easier to do all those with a tractor than behind a mule, or even a walk behind tiller. Been doing that for a few years now, and the older I get the harder it is.
. I know those are nice machines I've been crawling all over them for the last few months. Yeah may as well take the free 60 mos if they will give it to you allrighty. Post photos if you can..........N80,
The last time I rode a mule like that it had a 106mm recoilless rifle on it. Heck of a weapon, and plows a heckuva furrow, but not one in which you can plant, unless you're planting men.
