700 Lbs on rear wheels, and another 400 Lbs added elsewhere sure do make moving heavy loads safer.

From the pictures, even with the weights, the rears look like they do not have a lot of load on them.

The L39 without weights will lift a tire off the ground if you lift anything off center. With weights added, you would have to lift right at the bucket edge, and that would possibly rack the loader. In any case I would not try lifting at the edge of the bucket.

I wonder how much the load of rocks weigh?

Thanks for the pics.

That's a bucket full of rocks indeed.

I dang near tipped mine over the other day... lifting on the side and then motoring down a hill at an angle. The left rear wheel came up. I got the load lowered in the nick of time while imploding a huge pucker factor of 10 on the Richter scale...... I got lucky.....

I have fluid in each rear.

I hadn't given it a lot of thought until you commented here about lifting in the center. I have been schooled. Thanks.

Mike...cool looking tractor...

You've got that bucket way too high! You'll reduce your pucker factor even more if you keep the bucket about 3 or 4 FEET lower.

I'd estimate you have about 1000 lbs +500/-250 in that bucket

Really? I'd guess it at closer to 2000-2200#

My guess was 1700-2000 Lbs as there is air space between the rocks, even though I hand loaded them. I raised the bucket for the photo. I would not carry the load that high! In any case, I recommend adding weight to the L39, regardless of what the IOM manual says. 700-800 lbs at the rear tires is about just right.

I could not imagine the tractor without the 1600 - 1700 lbs of BH & thumb!

I suspect less then that since 1 yard of crushed rock weighs 2000lbs. I would say since there is more air in the bucket with rock of this size and since even heaped, the L39 bucket cannot hold close to 1 yard the weight is less then 2000lbs.

1 yard of crushed granite weights 2500-2700 lbs. 17 yards is about 23 tons on a triaxle dump truck if dry stone.

0ne yard of water weighs 1684 Lbs. Are you saying if I put a yard of crushed stone in a plasic bag and submerged it I could dead lift it?

I figure there was about 16-18 Cu ft the way it was stacked. In any case sure felt heavier than 1500 lbs. I load the bucket with 1-1/2 stone till it spills over and it was not as heavy as this load.

I think that bucket is way to high to be safe. But that's just me.

I think what I am saying is that when I go get a yard and half of crushed rock (not granite) my truck has an additional 3000lbs (approx) in it that was not there prior. We don't use granite out here for our crushed rock so perhaps granite has a weight that is different.

I have had the dealer add a 32 oz capacity hydraulic accumulator off the main pump. This cushions some of the shock when you whack something with the loader, or hit a woopie dip carrying a load. If you install too large of an acculator, the controls would get too bouncy. The 32 Oz size is just right and tucks safely under the frame.
Last year the special ["Can't order it as a seperate part!"] Quad seal on the oil pump housing failed after I trucked about 60-100 yards of material round trip about 3/4 mile each load. Pedal to metal you will be suprized how much air you can get at 7-8 mph! Having the pressure cranked up did not help.

The dealer had to buy a complete pump. I hope Kubota decides to make the seal a service part.

I have had no problem once they got the fittings to stay tight on the accumulator. I now have the hydraulic pressure set 100 -120 psi over spec. Just a 1/4 turn on main pump, not the 3/4 to a full turn I originally had when I had the failure. After adjusting the relief on the main pump, located under the access panel in front of the seat, you then must set the loader valve relief's.

I still have my doubts the L39 at factory spec pressure (2700 psig) will lift 2,200 lbs, but mine will now. I don't think it will lift much more than 2,200 lbs.
