**** all. Been lurking for awhile and now have a question. I'm going to get a L3800 today and want to know if it will handle a 60" reverse tine tiller? Also, which tiller will last. I see some tillers say gear drive and some say chain drive--witch do I need?
thanks in advance.

Hello, welcome to TBN... you can look at the specs. it will need 25 pto hp and you have that...

Reverse Tine | Land Pride

On the right you can look at the forward ones.

Why are you going reverse? I have a 3800, and have been in the market for a tiller as well. ****, they are expensive.

Also, what size are you looking at? My tires measured 60 inches, which means that the cutting width of the 60 inch tillers won't cover the tracks. Tractor supply has the 72 inch tillers for $2K, but it seems a little big. I priced a 64 inch from the local Kubota dealer, and he wanted $3150 with slip clutch (i just laughed at that).

On the gear drive, chain drive thing. Everyone I have talked to has been happy with what they have. So, I am thinking that doesn't matter that much.

Yep, I am asking you for help, even though you are on here asking for help. Kinda seems stupid of me. But I figured you have probably done some research, and I thought maybe I could pick your brain a little.

I think I am going to go with a regular tiller [ read not reverse rotation] but don't know which one yet. I have only a small garden 50 ft. x 100 ft. with wide rows. From what I have been told and have read, no more than I will use it just about any will work and last me a loooooong time. Still looking for more input--bring it on!!
thanks

I run a 72" Countyline tiller from TSC that I bought in 2010 for $1399. My tractor has about the same HP as yours. In my opinion the tiller is built very well for the price. I don't know what they go for now. It came with a slip clutch pto shaft. I only use mine a few times per year.

I've tilled virgin sod on clay with it and the L3710 HST handled it just fine.
