Not being fimiliar with shuttle transmissions I was wondering if I could get some info. On the tractor that I am looking to purchase, after selecting a gear, when you try to select fwd or rev on the shuttle the gears grind if you try to move the lever slowly. To engage the shutle you must quickly jerk the lever into position (with a grind and klunk). After that the shuttle works smoothly. Is this normal?

Does not sound normal. First, assuming it's a mechanical shuttle, the clutch may not be disengaging completely - try adjusting it for a little more travel with pedal down - see if it makes a difference.

BTW the L3650 model number corresponds to net hp. Kubota model numbers have been a little confusing over the years, sometimes matching gross hp, sometimes pto, before settling out at net hp.

I have an L3600 and it sure doesn't do that. It's almost impossible for me to grind the gears when using the shuttle shift. Don't know much more about it except it ain't right!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I'm not sure of the age, or the model exactly, but earlier models of the GST required the clutch be engaged to shift fwd/rev on the shuttle shift. I know the 3600 has the newer style with the accumulator and clutch pack doing it internally, so you didn't have to clutch. I don't believe they went to the new style until 1997. I will do some more checking and see if this unit is the newer style, or the older style GST.
