L3400 sticky HST pedal

what is the trick to loosen this up? reverse is fine, smooth and silky.. forward is super sticky and jumps when initiating the pedal. L gear is not as bad but most of my work is done in M gear.. i've tried lubricating the spring under the foot platform but it only helps for a few minutes..
