It is a good idea if the bill of sale itself clearly states the claim that the seller indemnifies the buyer from any governance of any hidden or remaining liens on the item purchased at time of purchase. Good luck with your new machine.

Yep, I am typing up the Bill of Sale today. Thanks again.

Did you have to take your tractor to them do have it done, or did they come to you and do it?

I took the parts off and took them to the dealer. This may or may not be more work than you are willing to tackle. They have a booth set-up to do the painting, so I am uncertain about how portable the system is...probably not, but it is an option if you are willing to take the parts to them.

Few more questions for you all...

I am going tomorrow to pick the tractor up. I am just going to park it in the back 40 of my property for now, until we start construction on the house/shed in March.

My plan is to take the battery out, cover it with a tarp. Other than that, anything I should do to it as it will be sitting outside over the winter.

Also, before I start to use her again in the spring, what is common start-up procedure I should do? I was thinking about changing all fluids etc, just in case, but not sure if it is over kill or not?

Well you are only talking about 4 months or so, and I think you will be fine , maybe take the battery out and on a trickle charger, (one of the 12 dollar solar ones would be ok. And for the tarp, I think the consensus is dont let it touch the ground and hold moisture in. In other words let air flow under the tractor. Also the clutch needs to be pushed in and locked down with the little spring loaded lock provided for that purpose. The idea is so that the clutch does not rust together. Also on the bottom of the tractor is a moisture release fitting. You press upward on it to release any water that has condensed in the bellhousing. Press it when you put it up and when you put it back in service. Depending how muddy the ground will get where you park it, you might want to put something under the tires to keep them up out of the water. Probably not a problem, but you decide. Be sure to lower all implements, and you might put a little Fluid Film or some similar protectant on the exposed hydraulic rods, and anything else that looks like it could rust. Also did you get an owners manual with the tractor?

Yes, he has a spare key and the owners manual. I will get it all tomorrow. I assume there is a maintenance schedule in there.

What James said.

We have a 1987 MF that has sat unattended for almost a year; put jumper cables on and took off; not recommended, but a LOT of farmers park their tractors in the fall and leave them till spring.

The "key" will fit several models... it's just one copy so don't think there is any security in taking the key with you. I would pull the fuses by the battery, too. Is the tarp camo-colored? Do you have insurance on it?

Top off the fuel tank, so condensation is less likely to form.

FYI... I've had mice make a nest behind the dash, twice. So far I've found them before they chewed on any wires.

I havent purchased the tarp yet. I do not have insurance on it.

I am going to park it way in the back, not viewable from the street. Not the best, but not the worst.

I thought about jacking it up and taking a wheel off, but I drive by there everyday anyway so. Everything is gated and locked so I think it will be ok.

You should be OK for anything less than a determined thief, many of us can easily start a diesel without a key; don't know about your model specifically, but I have started others.

Yes there is a complete schedule,, the first 50 hours is the most important
3 filters, Hydraulic, Hydrostat, and Oil and drain the engine oil. The manual says you do not have to change the hyraulic/hydro fluid until 400 hours. Be sure to keep of with the greasing.. loader every 10 hours of use, and be sure to hit both the front axle pivot fittings, the front one, you open up the breather cap, and pump until some of the old grease comes out. the back one you just put in 4 or 5 pumps and quit. and then the 3 under the operators platform, clutch and brake shafts.. spray the hydrostat linkage with fluid film under the platform. I use fluid film on the 3pt parts also. dont forget your suspension seat also.. again fluid film everything and bounce up and down on it several times to work it in. Adjustment is the T handle in the back , adjust for your weight. They are notorious for freezing up and not working.. So many guys don't even know they have a suspension seat because it has never worked! Good luck

The Kubota KTAC insurance is the great, lots of good testimonials here on it. I intend to keep it up even after mine is paid off.

Today was quite the adventure. Took all day to get this bad boy home.

Stopped at the Bank at 9:00 to get the cashiers check and by time it was all said and done and I had all the mud off the truck it was 6pm.

I have alot to learn about this this tractor, and more importantly my new 10 acres. Today I found a soft spot and sunk the truck a foot down into the mud w/o even trying. Had to use another truck to get it unstuck. Tractor wasnt off yet so I couldnt use it.

Once it dries out a little I will go back and play with it some more. I am going to read the manual while I watch TUF on DVR. Thanks again for the great advice everyone.

Mike
