Yep, I forgot about the hydraulic tank and the extra oil that goes in it. As I said, I seen a L3400 set up this way a couple of weeks ago. The cheap, quick and dirty way would be to try to use what he has and see what happens, otherwise as you said, it would be pretty expensive to go the PTO pump set up.
