in what market in the United States or Canada - at this point in time, would Kubota not hold it's value better than Kioti?

I not familiar with every market. Of course, I never said I was.

.....at this point in time.....

Were talking in the unforeseeable future. So what is today, may be totally different 3, 5, 10, 15 years from now.

How's your weather prognostication? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Steve, I can pretty much tell that out here in Northern California, Kioti's presence is for the most part non existent. I would venture to say most folks would not even know what a Kioti is but would know what a Kubota was. I don't know that means anything for resale value other then some folks may be afraid of a manufactuer they have not heard of. I have seen 1 Kioti in my life and I live in compact tractor country. I would say based on the opinions I have seen here, Kioti is a solid company and manufactuer. Had a dealer been anywhere near me when I was looking, I would certainly have considered one.

Don, you are just trying to pick a fight with Steve.

What I will say is that RIGHT NOW there is no doubt in my mind that Kubota has a higher resale value.

However, the real issue of resale value is not likely to be settled for many years when this tractor is sold or traded. The real question is AT THAT TIME at some point in the future, who will have a higher resale value?

Nobody knows that right NOW. However, to suggest that one brand (Kioti) will grow is also an unknown. It is based on the supposition that that brand will not see increased competition from similar brands (such as Yanmar and Mahindra, or even Jinma/Kama) and it is based on the supposition that the big 3 brands will not fight to keep their market share.

Again, I simply think it is safer, to dismiss the concept of resale value if we are talking about something that is 10+ years into the future. If we are talking about 2 to 5 years, it is probably safe to say that the brands that currently have the best resale value in the CUT market are Kubota, JD & NH in that decending order. 5 to 9 years out it becomes a lot more questionable, but those 3 will PROBABLY still have the greatest resale value, but others might as well.

You are funny, Bob.
I understand why you might recognize a devils advocate approach. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I think it's safe to say, resale is very subjective with many unknown variables.

SteveH_CT, you are correct. Unless you are in Korea, there will be a substantial difference in resale value. Before the Kioti people get all excited, I did not say that it was necessarily warranted, however, there is a considerable difference in the residual value at this point. A good "for example"; look at the prices in "completed auctions" on eBay and see what similar tractors actually sold for; not what someone asked, but what they got for the tractors.

When I was discussing resale........I'm not thinking today or tomorrow but years down the road.

Don, I think there are enough "known" variables to make a pretty educated guess and very strongly support the contention that Kubota is the stronger of the two for resale value and to call that into question is really not very judicious.

But going back to the ORIGINAL question, which we have really drifted away from to see a bunch of people chime in on one point that is probably a very minor point, I just hope that we get to see pictures of whatever tractor is purchased!

The stock market is probably the best indicator of the long term success and resale of a machine. The Buzz in our little corner of the internet tractor world is not at all represenitive of the day to day tractor owner or whats going gon inside this companies. Over the last 2 years Daedong has been under performing Kubota and Deere and experiencing about the same losses as CNH. Mahindra started low but has since reached growth numbers that are pretty solid, question with them is if its their automotive or AG sectors that are growing the stock.

Just some intersting info for ya :)

Yes Bob,

Resale value can be debated till the cows come home.

Let's go back to the original topic: L3130 or CK30.

Don

Edit: Messick, now your going way, way off track. Since were trying to put this thread back on the original topic, I will not respond to your post.

Neil, I haven't checked lately, but I am under the impression that CNH stock has been climbing very nicely since they had a stock split a couple years ago. I never looked up Mahindra's stock, but I looked up Daedong a few months ago and it was showing really bad 5 year trend lines with some erratic activity that ran into a slow downhill run. I never corrolated stock prices to resale value but that is interesting. What is the symbol for Mahindra?
