I'm looking for a finishing mower, the dealer I bought my tractor from a couple of weeks ago is trying to push a 7' Farmking he has in stock instead of ordering a 6'. Has anyone used a 7' behind one of these tractors, I have hilly ground and I don't want to bogg down my machine. Thanks in advance for your response.

Steve -- Probably depends on your definition of hilly. I use a LandPride 2572 rear discharge finisher with my L3010HST. It does a fine job in the meadow, even after a heavy dew, but going up my 22% slope I have to slow to a crawl.

Remember: that's a LOT of weight way out on the back of the tractor. Going uphill in transport mode I don't even raise the 3PH.

I have a RD72 (6') RFM i pull behind my 3010HST. I have had problems on some of our hills (minor bogging). In med. it makes it up them okay but I wouldn't want any bigger for sure. Oh yea, i did have the FEL loader on when doing this, and i have R4 tires.

Thanks, if the dealer will let me try the 7 footer before I buy I might go for it...just don't want to slow things down.

STEVE: the 7 ft may be fine in dry , low grass conditions. but i think i would opt for the 6 ft. but if he lets u try it out , u may find different.i personally prefer to go with the smaller unit, it is easier on the tractor and only a few times more around the cutting area, plus factor in your peice of mind.

Your right Frank, I think it would handle it fine on flat ground, don't want to have to worry about picking it up on a hill. You never know what conditions or situations you can find yourself in.
