Tractor
k
I have a question about the mower deck on my L3010 that just arrived.
The dealer is closed so I can't go ask him. I was removing the mower for the winter and I had trouble removing one of the pins. The four pins (2 on each side) that hold the main brackets came out easily. However, there is a small bracket on the right side of the tractor that attaches to the rear of the mower and I had a lot of trouble getting this pin out. I think the pin was too long and when I tried to take it out it hit the brake linkage. This pin was different than the others and it had a large head on the end of it, not like a normal clevis pin. I thought if the pin was inserted the other way (from the outside of the tractor towards the center of the tractor) that it would have been easier, however, the frame for the loader gets in the way so I can't line the pin up.

I noticed that the mower isn't the same orange color as the tractor and the loader. How old must this mower be if it has the old orange color? Would it make a difference in how the mower attached if the mower is old and the loader is new? I know the mower has been sitting around for a while because the labels that the dealer put on are all faded and cracked.

It looks like the mechanic used whatever pins he had around instead of the correct size pins. Should it be be difficult to remove this pin or should it come right out? Should I be able to insert it from the outside?

I didn't get a manual for the mower deck so I can't check for myself. I am thinking of making the dealer get me a mower deck that is the right color orange but I don't want to be too much of a pain in the neck. When they first installed the mower I asked if they were going to clean it up because it was a little dinged up (someone must have demo'd the mower). They delivered my new tractor and didn't even bother to clean the grass out from under the mower.

At first I was just going to clean it myself....but now I'm a little ticked off and I wanted to get some information before I go talk to the dealer Monday.

Thanks for your help.

Kevin,I can only assume that you have bought this tractor new,and that your mower sould be "new" also.I can't help you with the linkage hook ups on your deck,we have a B2710 with a mid-mount,and the linkage set-up is different.I would imagine your deck has been setting outside in the shipping crate for some time,if indeed it is new,but you should still have an owners manual to go along with it.If the deck is indeed a demo or used, and you paid for a new one,I would raise a stink if I were you.I bought our mower deck previous to buying the 2710,it had been demoed for a few hours, had no dings, included all the linkage/hardware and the manual for a $1,000. off list.

I would talk to the dealer and request a new one if that is what you payed for. Never liked demo (or rental) as often those using them are doing so for the first time--and it's not their long term investment. If not satisfied, write to the district manager. Have found Kubota exceptional in making sure customers are satisfied.

I just thought I would let everyone know how the problem with my mower deck turned out. I had been trying to decide what to do over the last couple weeks.

Yesterday I went down to the dealer and said I wasn't happy with the mower because it wasn't "new". The dealer said "no problem I'll order you a brand new one".

BTW...I have been using the FEL to clear snow from the driveway and it is working great. I have turf tires and was concerned about the traction but I haven't had any problem at all.

We have had 100" of snow so far this year.....I thought if I bought a new tractor it wouldn't snow at all and I wouldn't be able to use the loader until Spring.

Kevin, good to hear you're getting what you want.

That's some snow! Where are you?

Kevin;

I live in Dewitt; am anticipating purchasing a BX2200 w/ snowblower, belly mower, and FEL relatively
soon. Was curious who your dealer is. I've been dealing with DeVeau Tractor in Syracuse.

Thanks.

I bought the Tractor at Cortland New Holland. I think you will find that their prices are more competitive than Deveau. Probably the same as you could get at Carver.

Good Luck.

A couple years ago I did a comparison between a few dealers near Syracuse. I am pretty sure DeVeau was right smack in the middle of two other quites from local dealers... which I can't remember, of course. Plus, this was a couple years ago.
