L2850 Tachometer Repair

My L2850 tachometer is not working. At high rpms it barely bounces off of zero. The hour meter is working.

Does the tach cable drive both the hour meter and tach?

Any thoughts on repairs?

Add: it is a mechanical tach- I see the replacement tach cable in the manual.

Don't know how the tach works on your tractor.
Mine is electronic off of the alternator. I had the RPMs goofing up so I removed the connector at the alternator and cleaned the corrosion that was starting in there.
But, like I said, don't know how the L2850 is set up.
