Thanks for the reply. The really bad weather we’ve had the past month must have rally done a number on the gizmo to which the linkage is connected under the dash.Today I loosened the fitting up and sprayed a LOT of Penetrating oil on it. Waited 30 minutes, and it’s now cured!! Thanks for the advice!

Also had L2800HST and notice it also getting harder to move,spray joints twice year with WD40 and bingo. 
Not sure how many hours on L2800 if HST,if notice when stepping down on pedal to go forward and seems sluggish good chance rubber hose has crack etc. in vacuum line,our late L2800HST vacuum line was located under right step and wasn't hard to change.
