L2800 starting problem

Hi gang,

A newly developed issue....

My L2800 (260 hours) will no longer simply start and continue running; I have to hold the key in the start position (starter engaged, engine running) for 5-10 seconds before the engine will continue idling on it's own.

Any ideas on where I should "start" looking for the problem?

I'd start with a new fuel filter. The only other thing would be the glow plugs aren't preheating.

New air filter, too...

How is it once it's up and running? So this is just a Starting problem? What is the temperature where the tractor is???

Do you pre-heat? (turn the key to the left for a few seconds)

After some fiddling, I believe it's the key switch. I'll take it apart and see what's up....

Twice I've had a mouse make a home behind the instrument panel... I flip up the rubber around the steering wheel to look inside for any grass... got them before they chewed on wires!!! Might be worth looking behind there...
