Tractor
Started with a B-20 Kubota, then B2910, now L2800
Been checking out some new tractors and it's come down between a L2800 or a B3030. First off I have a B2910 with 1200 hours on it and have had no complaints with it other than the three broken front hubs which were taken care of under warranty. I use my tractor in my lawn install business to put in new yards. I mostly use a roto tiller and a yard gill, straw crimper, and move large amounts of dirt with the FEL for this. I like all the options you get with the B3030, but it seems to me the L2800 is a much heavier built tractor and would hold up better under everday use. Is there much difference as far as power than the 3 cylinder the L2800 has or the 4 cylinder the B3030 has. My dealer has offered to trade for $4800.00 for the 2800 and a LA463 loader and the Hydro transmission. I haven't checked on a price for the B3030. Another question. If I get the L2800 would you get a Pats easy change system for the three point hitch. I change implements quite often. I know I will miss the telescopic arms my B2910 has and the nice comfy seat and the tilt steering wheel. Decisions, Decisions What do you guys think? Thanks for any info you may have.

The L2800 HST is a larger tractor than the B3030. If you need the smaller size, then the B3030 is a good choice.
Beyond that, it looks like the B3030 will cost about $2000 more than the L2800.
The L3130 is very close in price to the B3030. It will give you the features of the B3030 with the size and weight a little more than the L2800.

Sounds to me like you need something like the L3130. But what do I know, I haven't even got my little BX 23 yet, and this Form has had me looking to go larger, (read Thanks Steph) already. In Looking, found a L3130, shuttle shift, R4's, 513 FEL, and, 3ph BH 4690, at my Dealer, in Winnfield, for $23,800. its was ordered for a contractor, and after it came it, he did not like the 3ph back hoe. I was tempted, but still holding out for the BX, which, by the way for any reguler readers, I will be waiting a few more weeks, as my hopped for assignment in Louisiana has now, been changed to southern Illinois, and into Kentucky, Two More Weeks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif.

I should have added in my first post that I haul my tractor in the back of a Dodge Ram 3500 and pull a 12' trailer with a straw blower mounted on it. I need to keep my tractor size to a minimum. As far as performance is there anything a L2800 will do that a B3030 will not. I like the heavier front end and frame that the 2800 has over the 3030. Is the 4 cylinder motor the 3030 has any better than the 3 cylinder the 2800 has?

Yes, lift a load higher and 60" bucket is standard.
I just made the same decision a few weeks ago between the L2800 and B3030 and chose the L2800 for higher lift and after driving both I really liked the L2800 layout better.

If your going to be using a 12' trailer for towing you better break out a tape. I used my 16' pipe trailer to bring my L2800 home and with loader and BH I had to put the bucket on the ft pipe rail for it to fit without the BH hanging off.

My truck has a 10' flat bed on it not your standard pick up bed.

The L-2800 is a heavier tractor then the B-series and would increase your productivity in loader work and would be just as convienient to use with the hydro as the B-series you are working with.

I think I'm going to go with the L2800. I asked my dealer when he could get a 3030 in and he said he didn't know when it would be. I asked about a canopy for the L2800 and was told it would cost around 450.00$. Does this sound right. I always made the ones I had on my B-20 and my B2910. I thought that it sounded high, but I haven't even seen factory one yet. Will the ROPS fold down any with a canopy installed on it?

My factory canopy for the B7500 I had was 350.00 three years ago, btw I kept it and installed it on my L2800 with new brackets.
I am sure the canopy will fold down with the ROPS, the only problem is you won't gain anything...the canopy will be sticking straight up negating any clearance issues.
The factory canopy is made up of soft plyable metal and a 1/2" thick layer of insulation and is heavy, you need two people or overhead hoist for safe installation.
