I am a new member and am looking at the L2800 and the L3400 as options to purchase. I was just quoted $14900 for the 2800w/fel gearshift model and $15900 for the 3400 same options. Is this a good/fair price? I am located in Ct. if that makes any difference.

Not alot of detail in your post about options, shiner. Filled rears? Rear remotes for the hydraulics? Block Heater? Both 4WD?

Even without goodies, the price on the L3400 seems reasonable if 4WD. Am surprised that the L2800 is only a thousand less. For that money, I'd go with the L3400. It's basically the same tractor as the L2800 except with more HP and a live PTO with 2-stage clutch....either feature would be worth the price differential to me.

If they both take up the same space, get the one with guts /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

The price(15900) is for a L3400 4wd w/loader. no other options.. base gear shift model no hst. That is what I understood from the sales rep.

I looked at both tractors and the 3400 is your best buy between the two. The Live PTO is a BIG plus over the trans drive PTO of the 2800. I was quoted $15,600 for the 3400 with FEL, Industrial Tires with fluid. If you are brush hogging the 2800 gear drive is not going to make you happy, mainly because of the trans drive PTO. I have been shopping and researching for a while now for myself. Have you checked out the Kioti CK30? Seems like you get more for your $ but you give up a few horses.

I've been researching the same thing and just got a quote this afternoon...

L3400, gear drive, filled R4 tires, FEL for $15,500

L2800, gear drive, filled R4 tires, FEL for $14,400

They're working on putting together a L2800 for me to demo at my house, so hopefully I'll have some insights on that soon.

I absolutely love my L3400, gears, FEL, R4s.

Another post -- ? few months ago -- suggested photographing them lined up together. Good idea. The L3400 is much sturdier I think. Yet, not so heavy as to make a real mess of your property/trails. Both great machines. Give consideration to the R1s for traction -- or chains. A tooth bar is a nice feature to get worked into the deal too.

Good luck!

I have looked at both and baught the l2800 HST. I went with the 2800 because it is the same as the same as the 3400, but just has less horse power. I am really hard on my equipment and my 245dt I have had to weld the fel, the frame and the front rims. When I told my dealer this he recomended the 2800 over the 3400. He said it will take more abuse than the 3400.

Heh, good one, Jay. I read that as: "Doesn't have enough power to hurt itself" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Not a bad thing, really.

Loaf, I am with you. Never too much HP. Just back off on the RPM's if it's a concern. Go with the L3400

I thought I wanted a B7510 until I looked at the L3400.
If all goes according to Hoyle, my new L3400 should be delivered in a couple of days.

L3400, 4x4, Gears
FEL w/ Toothbar
R1 (farm) tires
Rotary Cutter

I called around until I found a dealer who had all of the different tractors in stock that I wanted to look at. My wife (the CFO) and I went to that dealer (even though he was almost two hours away) and did a side-by-side-by-side comparison between the B7510, B7600, B7800, and the L3400.

I ended up buying from my local dealer, but I'm really glad we went and looked at all of them together.

You'll love it! I think the R1s are a good idea. I have the R4s and sometimes wonder whether or not I could use more of the hp with R1s or rear chains. I 'd love to hear how you find the traction. shawn
