I used it today for some light grading work. Parked it to talk to someone and 30 minutes later it wouldn't start. Turn the key and the engine cranks but won't start. The thing I noticed right away that is different is there used to be a fairly loud clack when turning the key on. The clack is gone. I assume there is a fuel relay someplace. I checked all the small fuses on the left side and the three main fuses up by the battery. Also made sure the clutch was depressed, the PTO lever was disengaged and rocked the pedal back and forth.

Any ideas where to start looking?

Is there a wiring diagram somewhere? I looked on the Kubota website but I must be missing it if it's there.

Couple other things to note... The seat switch has been tie wrapped down since I've owned the tractor. And the fuel gauge stopped working a couple months ago, just reads full all the time.

Do you have operator's manual,if so check out troubleshooting section in the back.
1.Air or water in fuel line.
2.Weak battery or bad connections.
3.Low fuel or fuel filter.

Yes, I have checked all the preliminary items and have looked at the useless "Troubleshooting" chart in the manual.

Like I said,, the loud clack when turning on the key is no longer present. I believe the clack was the fuel solenoid being energized.

Sounds like your fuel shutoff solenoid!

So I went down after my last post and turned the key,,,, no clack again. Left the key in the on position (with the clutch pedal locked down) and moved the manual fuel cutoff lever back and forth. As soon as I moved it the solenoid engaged. Turned the key and it started immediately. The solenoid clack seems not to be as robust as before so I'm thinking it may be on the way out or a bad connection. I'll pull it in the shop later and check the connector for corrosion.

Some of the Kubota fuel solenoids, have 2 windings, one for pullin and one for hold.

Thanks for the update Boatman62... just might come in handy down the road for me.

What's a HST doing with a clutch pedal?

Kubota has clutch bell housings on the L and Grand L series as there are 3 transmission choices and different PTOs and would guess they would not want to re engineer everything just because of the hydro.

What's a HST doing with a clutch pedal?

Not sure but I've got one. The only purpose mine has is to disengage the trans when I shift into the different ranges. Kubota insists that be done when shifting. Also, I need to step on the clutch as a safety-start feature before I can start tractor. It all seems normal and natural to me. Oh, to engage either PTO I also have to step on the clutch.
