I've been offered a L2250 at $12,000. 1900 hours. Comes with FEL and new paint, filters. No leaks. Is this price reasonable? Thanks.

That price is a bit high. I don't know the year of it and condition can mean alot. They sell for 8 to 10K w/fel around here if it is a DT. Great tractor though, I just sold mine to buy a new tractor. Mine sold in the 8k range.
Good Luck

Dave, thanks for your response. I believe it's a 1985. Supposing it's in great condition, is $12K reasonable? You suggested it was a "bit" high - sounds like it might be $2-3K high! Any comments would be helpful. Thanks in advance. Dave

pilotdave,
Yes, I think 12k is too much. But they may be willing to haggle some. Mine too was an 1985, does this one have power steering? The early ones did not and can make fel operations a chore. How about tires? Mine were the original and quite worn & weather cracked and in need of replacement(around 1k). While mine had an fel it did not have a grill guard and the nose showed it with some damage. So it is a little hard to say with out seeing the tractor. Is this private sale or from a dealer? Also this tractor has a two stage clutch that is very expensive to replace ( nearly 1k in parts alone ) so I would try and make sure that it was not worn excessively.
Do a search on Equipmentlocator or Ironsearch you should find some good comparisons.

Dave, thanks much for all the suggestions. I would need to go look at it again to be sure, but I'm pretty sure that it has PS. Tires are in good shape. No grill guard, but grill looks good. Good idea about checking on the clutch. I will take a look at the sources you suggested. Dave

The price seems high. I have been looking at at a L2550 and a L2650, both with FEL's and less hours, with prices lower than that. (NH) ( you may contact me about the dealer you are using
Would someone please let me know the big differences between the L2900GST, L2650GST and a L2550.
The dealer mentioned the 2550 was a direct injeciton engine. Is this true for all of them? I have been to Tractordata.com, but I am looking for additional information. Loader limits, Engine type, Clutch type
Also what is the difference in the PS system. Some use a piston type cylinder, others ues some sort of rotating arm.
Any help would be appreciated. Can someone tell me the history on the various platforms. What componets were carried forward/shared with other tractors?

I can't comment on the 2650 or 2900 as I've no experience with those models. I think they may be newer and a little more pto hp than the 2550. I have a L2550GST that we purchased new in '93. It has been an excellent tractor for it's size. Use it for most everything from pushing snow to helping with haying. Fuel comsuption is great. I bought it jointly with my late Father-in Law. I always said if Kubota could have filmed that man on one they could sell them faster than they could make them. I have an owner's manual and if there are any questions I can answer with it let me know. It would probably appraise around 6,500 or more.

2550 questions:
can the 2550 support a MMM? (Is there a Mid PTO? What RPM?)
Which loader? How much can it pick up? Is the engine a direct injection engine?

Reqarding the mid-pto. In the book I noticed for the 2250/2550/2850 it says "if equipped". On theL2550GST there is a MID-PTO. Two (2) speed. 1st = 1080rpm. 2nd =2000rpm.
Loader is the LA450A. rated @ 882# lift.
Engine is three cylinder direct injection w/29.5 engine & 23.5 pto hp. I never used the mid-pto. I mow with a Bushog 72" rear discharge finishing mower on that tractor.
