L130 PTO not working

1. Yesterday while cutting the grass the mower deck stopped working. I disengaged the PTO knob then reengaged it, nothing. The mower deck would
not work.
2. After the mower deck stopped working I stood up from the seat of the mower and the enging kept running. Isn't the enging supposed to shut down
if you get off the seat?
I was owndering if the safety switch under the seat could be the problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I have several mowers where the seat safety switch only operates with the PTO engaged...............I'm working a PTO problem on a restored "antique" JD 314 as we speak -- new PTO switch, new wiring harness, mower deck blades move easily with one hand, PTO works as it should on a 12V bench check and still the thing dies when it engages............three mechanics have looked at it and all seem puzzled

I agree --- the seat switch should only kill the engine if the PTO is engaged. So you know that the tractor thinks the PTO is disengaged. Have you looked at the wiring?? Everything in tact??? Measured the voltage at the PTO plug with/without the switch engaged?? Do you have any power at that point??

It might be that the belt slipped or stretched to the point that it does not engage the spindles on the mower deck.
