I was mowing and stopped the blades to pick up a branch. When I tried to re-engage the blades, they wouldn't. The PTO indicator on the display was flashing along with a little "open book" indicator flashing. Okay, got out the owners manual and tried to find something about the "open book" indicator. ? Nothing.
After getting it into the shop and poking around with a test light, I found/solved the issue. The PTO feed wire connector (under the fuel filter area) had slightly backed out of the connector.
How the "brain box" knew the PTO was not working and told me by flashing? (It's normally just "on" when engaged) And what's the point of showing that "open book" warning, without any reference in the manual?
I've had this mower for 5 years, and this was the first real issue. I've really been happy with it. I'm glad the fix was free.
