Kubota RTV 500 won't start

I have an older Kubota RTV 500 with 2000 hours that will not start. When the key is turned, it makes a single loud clicking noise and then nothing else. When the key is turned into the on position I can hear the fuel pump engage but when it is turned to the start position, only the single loud click and then nothing. I tried boosting by hooking jumper cables directly to the starter but had the same single loud click. I assumed this meant the starter was bad so I replaced the starter and just for grins, replaced the spark plug too. After all that, I still have only a single loud click when the key is turned to the start position. Any ideas?

Did you try jumping straight to the starter with a different battery? Start at the source, if that works trace backwards. Hows the battery voltage?

Charge the battery then have it load tested. Or charge the battery then remove cables. Clean terminals and cable ends. Reconnect and tighten. If you can move the ends they're not tight. Follow ground wire to frame - clean and tighten. Check battery voltage - it should be about 12.6. Monitor battery voltage while attempting to start. If it goes lower than 10 you found your problem. If it stays up see what voltage the starter is getting when a start is attempted. It should also be over ten. If it is not you need to find out where you're losing it.
