Kubota Regeneration

I wounder if anyone has ever worked right through a regen. process and not even realized it? Is a regen. count clocked on the tractors electronics for viewing?

I have worked thru the cycle on mine a coupe of times. Did not know it was doing it thing until I smelled the brunt paint smell just befor it got over

Same here I've worked through my regens and the only reason I know is the funny smell it makes or a different sound it makes when I'm using the loader. If I were to guess at the frequency it would be every 20 to 30 hours. I run a M7060 12 speed. I be had it two years last June with 1600+ hours. No complaints.

Mine did it's first regen this week and it was a total nonevent. Was running the RC and if not for the flashing dash would not even have known it was doing it. It was right around 26 or 27 hours. Took 11 minutes while I kept working and it was done.

I’ve got about 1,500 hours on my tractors with DPF. Many have been noticed only by the flashing yellow light or seeing the DPF percentage at the end of the day. I have no change in sound and certainly no odor. Happy to be rid of my smokers, wish I had the $$$ to replace combine and mini-ex from which I now find the stench really annoying. Oh, right, added to the stench by buying an old diesel pickup a couple months back, also because of not making business sense for me to buy new like I wanted.

Put a clothespin on your nose......:D

230 hours L3901 and I've worke3d mine all those hours with knowing about one regen because I smelled an odor and looked down at the flashing light. Just kept going and light was off by the time I was finished working. I do short low rpm warm up then throttle it up to mark on tach and leave it there as long as the machine is running. I do use Power Service silver bottle when I think about adding it at fuel up.

I'm a recently retired 30 year diesel mechanic. My advice to anyone who owns or plans to buy a tractor with DPF is sell it and don't look back. As these systems age they become a nightmare that will cost you both time from getting the job done and money. The systems that use the DEF additive aren't any better. The trucking industry is suffering because of this Government imposed crap. And just for the record, I'm not a right wingnut, global warming denier.

As a Kioti NX4510 HST owner I wish I had seen more advice like this before I bought my Tier IV tractor. It has been at the dealers 3 times over the last 8 weeks for the same Regen problems. They figured out that one injector is firing 1.5 times the amount of fuel than it should be. Kioti says that 1.5X fuel out of one injector is not enough fuel to be causing the unburned problem that I am having. My tractor will go into Regen mode but soots up faster than the DPF can burn it off. The DPF has already been taken apart once during this 8 week period and totally cleaned out because it was plugged solid. I just got it back a week ago on Saturday and 2.1 hours later the tractor was down and out again for the same problem. The dealer said the DFP was reading 200% which makes it go into limp mode. 20 minutes before going into limp mode it went into a Regen cycle. Mind you this is only a few hours after it was repaired. The Regen lasted 10 minutes before the light started flashing which means I must park the tractor in neutral, pull the throttle back to an idle and start a manual Regen. That lasted 10 minutes before the Regen cycle suddenly stopped and the CEL light was on. The tractor was dropped back off at the dealer's last Sunday. This week I was notified about the excess fuel on one injector. The real killer is that this tractor never had a Regen that I was aware of for over 300 hours. It has always run great and at high RPM's. Once it hit around 340 hours I had a throttle problem where the potentiometer crapped out. At 420 hours the Regen problem started. It has been 8 weeks with no tractor and 5 round trips so far to bring it back and pick it up. Hopefully Kioti will authorize some parts replacements soon and end this problem. Maybe the DPF is just junk. Of course it does have a bad injector too. The dealer has been doing everything he can do to fix this. Because it is under warranty everything needs to be approved by Kioti.

Also being a retired diesel mechanic (Freightliner) and having to smell the stench emitted from an overdosing DEF engine, I can relate. I'd say before I retired that about 85% of our shop work was failed or failing emissions hardware and software with DEF dosing issues being at the top of the failure list. Second would be sensor fouling and third would be EGR issues with hard carbon deposits.

Replaced a few 'one boxes' too. The one box is a stainless tank affair that contains all the emissions related hardware and is very similar to what Deere is using on their Tier 4 final ag tractors. The cost of a one box without the 'guts' is 10 grand and they do fail just like the rest of the T4 final hardware.

I guess if anyone makes a statement to the effect that they prefer it, I say, whatever blows your dress up because it don't blow mine up at all. I guess it you 'think it's a good deal' maybe you should invest in a plug in electric tractor and see how that works out.

How soon do you think it will be before someone comes up with a DPF delete for tractors?

A long time because it's illegal.

The EPA is cracking down on delete kits for trucks after not paying attention to them initially.

The exhaust on my fancy pickup with DEF and DPF is worse then most older diesels I have been around,
It is difficult to unload from the bed if it is running from the fumes.
Now an old tired diesel with leaky injectors pumping black smoke when not even being worked can be real bad to be around also.
But a decent running pre emission engine is not bad to work around.

220,000 trouble free miles on my 2012 Ram 3500. Last year before they started DEF. I'll rebuild this one before buying new. Especially with the price tag of these new trucks.

Do a Google search on Kubota DPF delete kits. There's a couple outfits that sell kits including hardware, software to remove the systems from your machine. I'm sure they're not cheap , but for the lifetime of misery and suicidal thoughts and alcohol dependency issues a DPF system will give you I would pay any price. I helped a friend install one on a Cummins recently and it included everything needed to bypass the EGR , exhaust catalyst and associated plumbing and post combustion fuel delivery, etc. This truck now runs like a charm every single time you get into it and there's a noticeable increase in HP. No lights, no scary flashing triangles, no 15 mph default modes on the interstate.

So are a lot of other things illegal, like drugs for instance, and they are running rampant in the U.S.

When catalytic converters first appeared on the scene, they were bypassed (gutted out) by the thousands.

That's why the feds will go after the manufacturers rather than the end users.
