Same here I've worked through my regens and the only reason I know is the funny smell it makes or a different sound it makes when I'm using the loader. If I were to guess at the frequency it would be every 20 to 30 hours. I run a M7060 12 speed. I be had it two years last June with 1600+ hours. No complaints.

Mine did it's first regen this week and it was a total nonevent. Was running the RC and if not for the flashing dash would not even have known it was doing it. It was right around 26 or 27 hours. Took 11 minutes while I kept working and it was done.

I'm a recently retired 30 year diesel mechanic. My advice to anyone who owns or plans to buy a tractor with DPF is sell it and don't look back. As these systems age they become a nightmare that will cost you both time from getting the job done and money. The systems that use the DEF additive aren't any better. The trucking industry is suffering because of this Government imposed crap. And just for the record, I'm not a right wingnut, global warming denier.

I searched for months, and bought a 2006 model, 250 hour Kubota L48,..... SPECIFICALLY to avoid the government mandated crap.

I’ve got about 1,500 hours on my tractors with DPF. Many have been noticed only by the flashing yellow light or seeing the DPF percentage at the end of the day. I have no change in sound and certainly no odor. Happy to be rid of my smokers, wish I had the $$$ to replace combine and mini-ex from which I now find the stench really annoying. Oh, right, added to the stench by buying an old diesel pickup a couple months back, also because of not making business sense for me to buy new like I wanted.

The exhaust on my fancy pickup with DEF and DPF is worse then most older diesels I have been around,
It is difficult to unload from the bed if it is running from the fumes.
Now an old tired diesel with leaky injectors pumping black smoke when not even being worked can be real bad to be around also.
But a decent running pre emission engine is not bad to work around.

Also being a retired diesel mechanic (Freightliner) and having to smell the stench emitted from an overdosing DEF engine, I can relate. I'd say before I retired that about 85% of our shop work was failed or failing emissions hardware and software with DEF dosing issues being at the top of the failure list. Second would be sensor fouling and third would be EGR issues with hard carbon deposits.

Replaced a few 'one boxes' too. The one box is a stainless tank affair that contains all the emissions related hardware and is very similar to what Deere is using on their Tier 4 final ag tractors. The cost of a one box without the 'guts' is 10 grand and they do fail just like the rest of the T4 final hardware.

I guess if anyone makes a statement to the effect that they prefer it, I say, whatever blows your dress up because it don't blow mine up at all. I guess it you 'think it's a good deal' maybe you should invest in a plug in electric tractor and see how that works out.
