Kubota M4030 SU

Dear TBN this is my frist thread and would like to say this is great to be able
to post and asked questions about tractor info on your site.


I have purchased a 1994 Kubota M4030 SU for $ 10,500.00 and it has only 500 hrs. on it does any one know what this might have cost new. And also what does the SU (special utility) stand for.

The M4030 sold new for around $15,780.
The SU denotes a "no-frills" tractor with a limited amount of available options. A value-priced tractor for a comparably lower price than a standard or premium tractor.

I have noticed that this tractor has a much heavier rear section
than any of the other tractors I looked at even the new ones
in the same or more hp range. also do you know where I could find
manuals for this tractor.

The workshop manual for the M4030SU is part # 97897-10127 and the supplemt manual is p/n 97897-10274.
They can be ordered from your dealer, they take a couple of weeks to ship though.
The WSM should run around $180.84 + S&H and the supplement $48.22 + S&H.

I hope Todd Moon will overlook my bad manners, but there is a very useful M4030 Parts Manual on eBay right now that will probably be a very good deal. I've had parts manuals for all my Kubotas and most times its all I've needed to see how it's built and to identify and order parts. The early M's were indeed massively strong units - very well made. Kubota was trying to penetrate the Ag market in the US in the '80s and offered a lot of tractor for short money. I believe the M's had six-cylinder engines - smooth as silk. With decent maintenance they last for ever.

I had a M5030 SU. It was a good machine. Very dependable and tough. I miss it.
