Any thoughts on this machine used as a 100% snow removal piece of equipment? There's a 2019 L6060 with about 1200 hours and a Pronovost(?) drag blower.

This is for property management in Ontario, Canada.

I'm seeing horror stories of machines at this age with fuel system issues, is this a common defect or am I just seeing the worse?

Thanks everyone!

The L60 series has a strong reputation, and no specific problems that I am aware of. My L4060 has about 1200 problem free hours.
Sounds like that machine has seen some hard commercial service, so I would look it over carefully.

does the machine have a service log? hrs? if possible, i'd hire an impartial tractor mechanic to review the machine as suggested above. take a look at the cond of air filter for starters. good luck

I own 2 L6060's. I really like them as they are a good fit for my needs. But, I am in South Louisiana and we get a little snow here about once every 10 years or so.

I did have a major fuel issue with my older machine a few years. You can read that story here. Water in fuel causes $10,000 damage to my Kubota Grand L6060

Even after that fuel issue, I bought another one. The newer one has had a couple of minor issues with fuel lines getting blocked, but nothing major.

One would be foolish not to follow daily check items before a long day of service. One of them is to check the fuel water separator. The Kubota Grand L6060 are SOLID tractors.

the newer models have better fuel filtration but I don't know when they started putting a better fuel filter. not sure if they added a second smaller micron filter or if they replaced the original filter with a better one.

Check out this YouTube channel for Stefano Narducci, co-owner of Northern Snow. He has a fleet of around 40 of the L6060 with the Pronovost blowers in Canada doing residential snow blowing. He is a big fan of the L6060 and Pronovost blowers. He is phasing out the JD 4066R machines in favor of the L6060 because of maintenance issues, the JD machines just don't hold up. He also is phasing out his M5-111 for M6-111 Kubota.

As with ANY used tractor, due diligence is paramount. Have it inspected by a competent and unbiased dealer mechanic and additionally, pull an oil sample and have an analysis done by a lab that specializes in oil analysis like Blackstone Labs, for instance.

Lube oil and gearcase oil analysis will reveal things you need to know and things you don't need to know as well....

Blackstone provides FREE oil analysis kits btw. You pay when you send in the samples.

I have an L5740 which is the predecessor to the L6060. It's now 18 years old with 1000 hrs, and I have not had a single problem with it. Not one. I HAVE fixed a few things, but they have all been things that I have broken.

My l4060 is going strong at 1,100 odd hours. I've had front wheel bearing issues, once under warranty, once recently. I believe the l5?60 & L6060 have a beefier front axle.

I wish I had the extra 20hp for mowing & roading the machine. Traction wise it's iffy wether I'm limited by traction or power.

My dealer is laughing all the way to the bank with that guy, LOL
Gets to lease all those tractors, then sell them for new prices when traded back in.

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies.

Glad to hear the solid reputation. I'm familiar with Blackstone, I used to use them regularly for my car.

Read the story about the $10k damage. Thanks for the update, it sounds like a dealer was also part of the issue.

I watch Stefano's stuff pretty regularly. It's a bit painful to watch as I used to plow commercial with a 2520/HLA pusher/rear blower (yes, insured), and I was far more efficient with that little pipsqueak machine. 😂

It's hard to ignore the speed and efficiency of those Cyclone inverted blowers! I currently run an HLA 7' blade with fabricated side plates, and a 7' rear blade or blower.
There's a Cyclone in my future if i can get over the $$$ of them.

This is my setup on the L5460. I've modified the blower with a beefier and larger set of skids, but am going to go with a pipe replacement of the blade as I mostly do gravel roads. Big step up from the JD1025R with 18hp going to a front blower vs. 46hp to this one. I can do in 45 minutes what used to take me 2.5 hours. I do recommend the third function feature up front so you and adjust the throw angle. I also found that with greater power comes a need to be even more focused as you're usually moving a bit faster and things change more quickly. I've set my unit up as the Retirement Special with actual steps, tool box in back, entry grab bar, and more. Lights are now all LEDs. At some point, maybe a Ham Radio antenna. You can't loose with the L setups.

nice tractor, the beefier front axle starts on the Grand L 47XX model. I would love a front mount blower but I can't lose the loader so I got a rear mount blower.

I can't speak directly for Stefano or his contract, but he's a younger guy and a high risk business. Ignoring the accounting benefits of leasing, mother Kubota owns those tractors should he go under. Trust me, I'm shopping with cash and most folks are surprised I'm not looking for a loan. Does anyone not purchase machines with cash anymore?

there is an entire generation that has not known interest rates higher than 3-4%. they don't know how to save because they never had to. interest rates have been too low for too long and now everyone is living on credit and has gotten used to a lifestyle they can no longer afford.

In the car market you get better prices for financing a machine than paying cash. Dealers get a kick back from the lender, so can be more aggressive on pricing. Financing a purchase & getting that discount, then paying the loan off in a month is a thing. Dealers hate it as the lender claws back a prorated amount of the kick back.

I do, my atv's too. Tired of making banks more money.
Not to mention you can't get in trouble.....you don't buy if you can't pay for it up front.

Agree that you should be able to buy something outright, but, sometimes it makes financial sense to use the financing - totally dependent on the exact case.
