I am new to this tractor, has 400 hours on it and it appears there are issues with the transmission??? When the shift lever is placed in the mid range and you push on the foot pedal the tractor doesn't move, when placed in neutral position to start and push on the foot pedal the tractor will move both forward and backwards, the high and low range appear to work normally. My question and thoughts are?? I don't believe the tractor should be able to move when gear selector is in the neutral position, while in the neutral position I was able to go approx. 7 mph. I am hoping that the linkage is bent or just out of adjustment, the mid range appears to be in the neutral position??? Not sure this is all possible. Previous owners just used the High and Low position, I would like to fix it so all ranges work correctly. From reading some of the previous posts it sounds like the linkage for the HST transmission can be a problem. There isn't to much about the adjustment of the linkage in the manual. Has anyone else had issues similar to this ???

Perhaps this page from the WSM will help.

You are not the only one to have this problem and far from the first!!! We have seen some well bent up linkages before from sticks rocks and other debris under tractors! We have seen tractors hydros fighting themselves with the dual foot petal linkages getting bent and tractors wanting to go both ways! We have seen virtually no movement one way and way to much the other! You probably have bent linkage and it will cause troubles as you might not even be getting the high or low range fully in gear and you could chip or break the teeth of the gear. Do get it centered back so all are in the proper position. We often raise the rear of the tractor off the ground for making the proper adjustments to cure your problem. You can with removal of the linkage check that all ranges are working properly as well as center your linkage to have it in it's proper place.

Thanks for the info, plan is to get it in the shop and get the linkage off and see if we can see just what’s really going on. Will keep you in the loop with what I find.
