Kubota BX25D
Hi
Wanted to for some general advice regards purchasing used v new
Thinking off buying a Kubota BX25D for using around our acreage and doing a few jobs i have planned. Was going to hire one for as and when required
but figured this could easily work out more expensive in the long run as i have a lot of tasks planned for it.
Now I've seen a few used machines for sale not too far from where we are located the ones i took interest in vary in age between 2011 - 2013 and I also obtained pricing on a brand new BX25D from my local dealer. Compared to used machines a new one would run me anywhere from $2000-$6000 difference when comparing it to the used models i have seen, benefits of some of the used ones is they may come with one or two extra attachments but obviously would come come with little or no warranty compared to the new one. So basically would be interested what route others have taken on there purchase obviously budget plays a part but the way i look at it either used or new a sizeable amount of money.

Welcome!

When I was shopping I found the pickings slim...

As much as I didn't want to go new... I did and no regrets.

Normally, I would expect a significant discount going used and simply was not finding it.

Prices do vary... at least here. By shopping I was able to buy at a significant savings.

We are located near Airdrie Alberta Canada
Dealer price on new BX25D is $20700 all in
Compared with several used machines 2011-2013 around $14k - $18k for these used ones.

Understand some KUBOTA dealers are offered 5 yr warranty in October and 0% - 60 months

Looks like its about the same pricing on new machine across the country
Like i say my local Kubota dealer offered me a new BX25D for $20700 includes Alberta tax (5%)
Just need to clarify with them if this deal is available as part of the kubota 0% - 60 months plus 5yrs warranty promo they are doing currently.
From what i can see available most used Bx25D's certainly seem to hold there money noticed a few used 2011's advertised at $17k-$18k so compared to new pricing not much of a drop provided of course they sell at this price.

I looked hard and long for a used Kubota, everything I found was priced really high! Wasn't worth buying used over new in most cases, they just hold their value too well, at least around here...

I had similar initial thoughts but after a quick review of online offerings I took the new route with a BX25d at 17300 w/12 bucket and 3pt. I actually saw several used bx25's w/200 hrs for 1-2k less than my quote. New was an easy decision in Bama. It is comforting to know they hold value this well.

I bought used and have no regrets. I use it 100hrs per year and no issues other than routine maintenance.
You have to look close and try it out fully before you buy

Yes, I was pleased with 17300 price. BX25d-1 w/FEL and BH w/12 bucket and 3pt. They even filled tires with antifreeze and delivered it and spent a few hours showing me how to disconnect the BH and put on 3pt. Very pleased with my 7 hrs so far!

I am looking at a new Kubota BX25D (loader, backhoe, 60" mower deck, and 3 pt. hitch setup) right now...I am leaning toward buying. The dealership offered that package for $19,000 plus tax, 72 months 0% financing, and free delivery. I thought that was a reasonable offer. Am I out of my mind?

Trumpeterb, that is a good deal as the mmm deck generally runs @2k so ur numbers are actually better than mine a couple of weeks ago. Did not know kubota credit did 72 mths but didn't ask. If u pay down earlier you should get back the insurance monies if they lumped them into the deal. I would ink that one.

No insurance money is included in the 19k. Homeowners covers it. Thanks for that feedback on the deal by the way. I was unsure if it was bad, ok, good, or great. Glad to know I am not getting hosed.

The 72 month same as cash deal is not generally advertised, but apparently they can offer it--but the dealership is supposed to charge an additional 2% of the purchase price of they do. In this case the dealership ate that 2% and gave me the 72 months at the same price as 60 months. I thought that was very generous of them.

One final question before I pull the trigger on this buy then....opinions on which is a better deal:

The Kubota BX25D loader/backhoe/60" mower/3 pt hitch setup for 19k at 0% over 72 months

Or

Mahindra eMax25 loader/60" mower/heated glass cab/3 pt hitch for 18k over 72 months.

I was offered both at different locations. Was back and forth between the two--cab or backhoe--which would be more useful. Tough decision. What are your opinions on which is the better bargain?

If you need or want a cab... that would settle it.

Can get real cold on an open platform in winter.

I do think Kubota is tops for holding value in the small tractor market...

To me it came down to the backhoe. If you don't need it and can rent one when needed then you can save big $ although I would personally look at the b2601 with a cab. This was my first tractor purchase. I couldn't see a trend of the red ones holding value over the years as the orange ones do. The reds one may indeed hold it, but I didn't see it. Also, I wanted a backhoe and your numbers reflect a $1k difference between the two options. 2-3 years from now are you going to look back and wish you had acquired the backhoe for that $1k? Standalone they are a $5-8k addon down the road depending upon frame adjustments based on my limited research. I did see a Curtis Cab on a BX25 on this site...not a bad look. Good luck!!
