Snowblower deflector update:

Just got off the phone with dealer. He said both the 3rd function and the hydraulic deflector are separate items and are not duplicating or using the same parts.

For the hydraulic deflector option, there's a toggle switch on the loader joystick that switches the side to side joystick function from chute rotation over to deflector angle (i.e. they are both using the same stick movement and valves and there is a hydraulic solenoid that switches the function out front.

This seems sort of silly to me. Better would have been to use the 3rd function valve for the deflector, being as that is also mounted to the joystick and then means that all three blower functions are completely discreet. I plan to order mine with "none" for deflector control. I'll install a small cylinder for deflection and be a happy camper.

That's how I figured it would work...Just got off the phone with my local dealer and they said they would be losing money at 15% off with free installation:rolleyes:. Looks like I will be taking a road trip to get mine.

The local dealer told me that if purchased and financed in a no sales tax state that within a couple of years it would come back around and I would end up having to pay sales tax (6%) plus interest/penalties. Anyone know if this is true or is it just some more BS from a salesman?

Can anyone refer me to a dealer who sells for 15% off? I really don't care where it comes from at this point...I am sick of dealing with all these idiots that don't even know what options are available for the **** they're selling.

I have contacted 3 different dealers and every single one knew little to nothing about the B3350, one even started asking me questions about it:mad:. Amazing how hard it is to buy a tractor:thumbdown:

Yup...I would really like to work with my local dealer as thats's where I will have any warranty/service done. But the fact that they think retail with free setup is a good deal is a complete joke.

201Drive,

I don't think you'll get positive results from the shotgun approach to pricing requests. Dealers get that often enough that they will not put their hearts into it . . . at least that's what I've seen so far. They'll bang some numbers together and punch it out there. One of the quotes I got from "no sales tax" Oregon was $51K (B3350, loader, backhoe, thum, front blower etc), that was about $6K more than the quote I got by flying 250 miles and sitting down with a dealer. I'm pretty sure most will want to know you're serious before they get serious.

I also tell them that I want their best price going in, and that although I plan to get additional quotes, I will not share their quote and/or ask someone else to beat it . . . not my style.

Looks like I'll be settling for 13% (or close to that) off, plus free set up and delivery (over a couple of hundred miles). Couldn't find anyone willing to do it for 15% off.

EDIT: In the interest of honesty and full disclosure (something that is abysmally lacking in our current leadership), reviewing the final quote I come up with a simple discount of 11.4% with free set up and delivery. That is, taking list price total all items and then multiplying that figure by 0.114 and then subtracting the result from list price. 13 or 15 percent would be nice, but I'll take go with this one.

Well, I've already got responses from 2 dealers one is 10.5% off MSRP no freight or setup charges without ever talking to him. The other is 11% off but does have setup and freight charges. Goes to show how stupid my dealer is, I feel sorry for the folks that believe them and pay retail. The crappy part is I will be stuck using them for any service/warrany work, hopefully their service department is better than their sales department. :)

If you finance the unit who ever holds the paper may notify your state they have a lien on the tractor. The Revenue Department (tax department) in some states are cross checking the department that has lien information and searching for large out of state purchases and the amount of tax paid.

This also insures the Dealer did not charge you taxes and then pocketed the money.

According to this pageKubota Tractor Corporation - B50 Series Only the rear mount snow blower is available with hydraulic deflection.

2010drive,

Yup, you are correct and it looks like the page you reference would be incorrect or a misprint. Under "Build my Kubota" you can add hydraulic chute deflection (it's a $902 option). My dealer is also able to order it . . . so it looks like it's two to one in favor of it being more than vaporware. Neither of which makes it a good deal!

I decided to buy the front loader 3rd option for and additional hydraulic function on the joystick . . . then I'll install a small cylinder for deflection. Total cost, about $100 for cylinder and hoses, maybe a little more.

Just finalized my deal...

Retail:$40,560
Sale Price:$36,301.95
Discount:$4,258.05 (10.5%) plus free freight and setup with no sales tax.

Oh and you can build the 3350 on kubota's site now.

Congratulations!

How long 'till delivery? My dealer says 3 to 4 weeks, but I think much of that is due to all the extra stuff I ordered that they need to install. Good news is that everything is available in local Kubota distribution (that'd be Lodi, CA for my area), except for the 3rd function valve which is coming from Georgia.

While I wait, I just bought another Kubota (that makes 3 now, so I must be an addict), a 2006 BX24 TLB with metal canopy, 100 hours, and a like new BB2048 box scraper - - all for $11.5. I do think I got a smokin' deal as everything works like new and the tractor has obviously been stored mostly inside. Still gotta replace that sloping BX seat (guess the owner missed the original "recall".

I'm planning to sell my BX2230 w/front mount blower and FEL shortly.

Thanks!

Should be ready by the end of next week, but I can't get over there to pick it up for 2 weeks. I ending up buying at a place south of portland so it'll be a little bit of a haul but I saved 4K so I think it's worth it:thumbsup:

Post some pics of all your kubota's!

I believe the dealer is correct, as this is the way the blower is set up on my B3030. There is an electric/ hydraulic diverter on the blower that uses the curl function to control the chute deflector. If you do get the tractor with the third function it should be as simple as removing the diverter and having a couple longer hydraulic hoses made to utilize the third function to control the chute deflector.

/ Kubota B3350 #38
PS ....... the reason the chute deflector uses the diverter valve is so that it can be used on any tractor, whether it has a third function or not. Usually, salesmen are not intimate with every tractor they sell, so they can only go by Kubota's footnotes in the wholegoods list. The deflector could definitely be controlled with the third function for the cost of a couple hydraulic hoses / fittings. FWIW, I highly recommend the hydraulic chute deflector.

I think Kubota's snowblower "deflection automation" pricing is off the chart . . . especially for the electric over hydraulic version. Instead of plunking down $902 to have it orange, if one wanted electric you can buy a 4" stroke 12 volt linear actuator on eBay for about $70. There's even one with ready made brackets, though if you make your own you can adjust the length of the bracket/s so the chute cannot be stressed at full actuator travel. (I did that on my previous BX2750 blower) I just sold to one buyer and the BX2230 to another - - and I thought they'd sell together.

Since my B3350 will have the $799 3rd function valve, I'll be looking for a suitable little cylinder on ebay or surplus. Had I ordered both the 3rd function *and* Kubota electric/hydraulic deflector, I'm quite sure the dealer would have complied with my request and I'd have paid another $900. My dealer is honest, but I'm sure he would not have caught that "duplication" when installing options for me.

The electric deflector is $597 retail and the hydraulic is $902 retail both are pretty high. But I personally don't want to be fabricating up a electric deflector to save a few bucks on my new 40K tractor.

The third valve function is NOT included with the $902 hydraulic deflector as least thats what every dealer I have talked to has said (over 5) and according to Kubota's website.
