Kubota B3350 tractor regeneration problems

Bumperm and others, thanks. I just had a successful non parked regen while cutting grass. I have an early model B3350. The only other time was in the middle of heavy snow blowing. I had the recent modifications and they reversed the function of my regen switch as well. I remembered reading the above discussion. Dealer made no mention of it. When the dash like came on, it was solid on. When I pushed the regen to light it up, the dash light started blinking. So I returned it to the dark state, and the regen dash stayed solid for about 15 minutes. I had to make work and recut the grass a few times until the dash light went out. This may mark the end of a troublesome start of ownership for my B3350. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks all, again.

after a couple more trips to the dealership. my tractor has been running great. the regen button still needs depressed when starting, for a auto regen. the most recent issue was, my regen light would not come on, the ignition switch light test would illuminate the bulb, but, it would not come on. even with depressing it... the dealer hooked it up to a computer, checked for codes. they didn't tell me if there was a problem.

i do have a issue that other owners could let me know about.
the 4 way flasher light used to stay off, unless i depressed the button. (before a wiring harness was replaced). now it has a half bright glow, whenever i turn on the signals or headlites.
do your tractors act the same way?

i have heard that my local dealer is being sold. so i may be getting some bull waste...

Sorry about your dealer issues. As to the light coming on dimly when other stuff is turned on, sounds like there's goof in the wiring, floating ground (?), maybe a plug left unplugged on something else.

It sounds complex, but in reality it isn't to troubleshoot. The flashers (or anything else electrical) usually has one or the other, 12 VDC or chassis ground (and sometimes a non-chassis common ground so it can be monitored by computer - another story) . But you first use a meter to determine what is on one of the two item terminals with switch off (ground or +). The, operate the control switch to make sure item works as expected. Then simulate the problem, turn something else on in this case, and measure and determine where the voltage is coming from. Basically. . . . and I guess it's not that basic :)

I'm not sure dealers are really informed as to what to tell their customers when their tractors are updated - it could be a Kubota communication problem. I complained about harsh shifting on my much larger tractor and in an attempt to satisfy me, my dealer finally replaced the computer. Whether it was new software flashed into a blank module or the new ECM came with software installed (at Cat we supply ECMs blank and the dealer flashes the latest software), my regeneration reversed so it was on auto regeneration mode on startup and pressing the auto button turned it into manual mode although the auto button lit. If it wasn't for my knowing Kubota had made this update, I would have had a real problem and if I drop dead and my wife sells this tractor, the new owner will be really confused if they read the operating decal on the visor which was not overlain with a new decal.

tempforce,

I rarely use my headlights or 4-way flashers (I have LED work lights and amber light bars for snow clearing instead). So I went out to the tractor shed to check. With all lights off, key on, the 4-way flasher is not illuminated and the flashers work when I push the button. When I turn on the headlights, the 4-way flasher button comes on and stays on - flashers work when I push the button, the the button light is on regardless of what the flashers are doing as long as the headlights are on.

Hope this helps, mine is a late '13 B3350 that has had the December 15 computer regen update (and reversal of the auto regen button). But does not qualify for the new alternator etc .

Bought mine exactly same time. From day one I had same issues. Was in shop the last time in November 15. I have 140 hours on mine now.
Been using field and brush mower in my fields to put hours on it to check regen. Had warranty extended a year. I have been going 10 hours
between regens on average but did 14 hours once.
When problem started all it would let me do is parked regens and every few hours at that. It has been in the shop many times and fortunately they come and get it and bring it back for free.
I have used it 10 hours since 12-29-15 to yesterday when it did a regen. I reported it to the dealer and the shop says it sounds like it is doing OK. We'll see.

From day one I had documented every hour used and what happened. Kubota apparently appreciated that. Love the tractor but it will take time to be
comfortable with regen reliability issues.

three more successful regens, then the auto regen light quit working again. the bulb test shows a good bulb. sent off a e-mail to the dealer. they are in the middle of switching owners. won't be open for customers until after the first of the month. there's another kubota dealer in the area. i'm thinking of driving over and having a talk with them..

How many hours should you get between auto regens? Does it sound like you are getting things straightened out though.?
I saw a note at the bottom of your response that said you traded a L3200 for the 3350. Is that correct? What year was the L and horsepower?

it varies, it seems like 7-10 hours, others report longer times. my B3350 has had a wiring harness replaced, a computer and several software changes.
i bought the the L3200 in dec of 2012. i used it to clear the dead and fire damaged trees off my property. it had a rough life. i didn't know about the need to change the copper drain plug seals at every oil change. between that and logs, branches and debris contacting the oil filter putting a hole in it on several occasions. and the final event was a oil drain plug came out. first time i've ever had that happen.
i lost the engine about 14 hours after that event. i was planning on down sizing in the future, with the L's damaged engine, i decided that it was a good time to down size. figuring i wouldn't loose as much time doing the trade, compared to the engine and body damage repairs. i had the tractor picked up, a estimate done and i gave the shop the go ahead for the work to be done. then my salesman found that the damages to the tractor from logging was covered, as was the engine damages. needless to say it took several months for the insurance to finally approve the work, so repairs could be started. in the meantime i couldn't trade off the tractor as the dealership didn't know how much the insurance was going to cover, so they couldn't give me a trade value. when the work was done the new tractor was ordered. the new B came off another dealership lot, for a quicker delivery. unfortunately the early models had the particulate filter regen issues. which i've been dealing with since delivery.
it's coming up on 9-10 months now since my L lost it's engine.
i wish i would of just kept my L. i would of only lost 2 months of yard work...
considering the time the insurance took to decide on the body repairs.. they approved the engine repairs right away.
i've lost more time with the B's epa required emissions equipment needing repairs, compared to dealing with the insurance company. the repairs on my L only took a couple months. it would of been less if the hood hadn't needed to be ordered three times, due to freight damage.
