kubota B2410 needs a full tank to run, after I use about 1 gallon of fuel the engine slows and stops.
I have loosened the fuel cap, and put on a new filter, same thing.
When i change the filter the fuel runs freelly from the tank.

What could be the problem?

may be she is sucking air? engine slowing and stopping means there she is not getting enough fuel.

Where could it be sucking air from?
It runs great with a full tank.

I think you have a blockage of some sort in the fuel tank.
I suggest you drain the tank completely and see if there's anything in there.

Loosening the fuel filler cap with the same results eliminates a blocked vent, I should think.

I second roy. Sounds like with a fult tank you have enough head pressure to force enough fuel past the restriction to run normal, then once head pressure diminishes, not enough fuel flow ocurrs. You might be able to remove the filter after draining the tank and use your air compressor and a blow gun to blow some air back into the tank. That should dislodge anything stuck in the tank opening.

Another thing to consider is that the fuel return line goes back to the top part of the tank. Is it possible that once the fuel level drops below the return line the engine stops?

I'm not sure if the return line can also feed the injection pump on your engine, if the return line only goes to the injectors then I'm off track with this line of thinking.

Will the engine re-start if you remove the tank cap, wait a few minutes, then bleed and go for a start?

There was a gentleman in here with the same type of problem once. He purchased a used rental tractor, and apparently someone had put some sort of epoxy into the tank. After he ran it for a little while, the epoxy would drift down in the tank and block the fuel flow

I had a tractor with a faulty lift pump that did what you described. It would run okay full but lose power and eventually die once the fuel reached 3/4. We determined it was either back feeding through the return or had a high enough head to feed the injector pump when full, but the injection pump was starved once the fuel level dropped. Not sure how your tank sits relative to the injection pump but this could be something to look for.

When did this start? Is there any chance that the feed and return line are reversed?

I have a similar problem. Mine will run ine for a few minutes then get real sluggish and barely run. Sometimes it stalls. It will start right up but missing. It will start to run okay and then do the same thing. Especially going up hill. I replaced the filter and drained all the fuel from tank and replaced with new. Still does it. Looks like something in tank like a plastic cap from a can. I am tempted to try and remove the tank and clean it out better. Has anyone removed one yet and have any tips?

I am experiencing same problems.
I know I dropped a top from a can in there a few yeaars ago. It has run fine but recently doing what the original poster said. Run a while and stop or almost stop. Running up hill backwards I have little problems. But going down hill it stops often or slows down so much it is about to.

Probably NOT related, but just a heads up to look at for running problems.

My backhoe/loader had a time where it would run fine for say, 10 minutes. Once I got to "work" with it or was driving to another part of the farm, it would die down and die. Would NOT restart. If it sat there for maybe 10 minutes, it would again restart.

Long term, I figured out that it would pretty much run at lower RPM's as long as I wanted/needed but, as soon as the RPM's picked up a bit to work or transport (with any road speed), the engine would die.

Long story short... my water seperator was pretty much full, blocking most of the fuel from getting through it. Once I fixed that, all was well and I was back to full power.

I had NO idea I had accumulated that much water in the little glass cup.

I had this problem on my B7500 when I first got it 9 years ago. The engine would slowly loose power. Being my first diesel powered tractor I wasn't sure about fuel consumption and figured there may be something wrong with the fuel gauge, which seemed to read full even after some use. After manually checking the fuel all was OK for a while. I later discovered that the fuel cap was not venting and causing the engine to slowly die from lack of fuel. I also discovered that the "little" mechanical fuel pump had enough suction to collapse my tank locking the sending float in a near full position. The dealer gave me a new cap but I fixed the tank myself not wanting to be without my new tractor for a dealer repair time. Pittsburgh Guy, your problem does sound like you have something in your tank that could be blocking flow to the pump under varying circumstances but it could also be clogged vents on your cap. The easy way to test is simply loosen your cap. Good luck finding your problem.
