Kubota ATV?

I read that Kubota plans to begin building a "recreational utility vehicle" in 2003. Apparently there will be two four-wheel-drive models with 18 and 25 hp Kubota diesel engines.

Anybody else heard anything? Sounds like another good toy for those who like orange equipment.

If that is true they will have to make one heck of a atv to swing current atv owners. It has always been Yamaha, Honda or Polaris. I changed and am purely a Bombardier guy now because of how great their machines are. Definitly the top of the ATV market. The only knock on them was their price till the rest of the companies raised their prices so now they are almost a bargin. Plus a 3 year warranty is hard to beat on a atv.

On a side note, if you want a orange atv get a Honda Rancher. Nice quality machine and has more ground clearance then the Foremans.

It may be more along the lines of a Gator etc rather than an ATV but I am just guessing. My first bike was a Yamaha, fond memeories still but which yamaha, polaris etc has a Kubota diesel engine? None of them, I suspect a Kubota tough ATV with a diesel engine might be a great product. Most of the ATV's have engines that are to revvy and to much motorcyle like in performance, an ATV with the D109 (17-22 horses) engine from the BX would be awesome. J

I assume you ment I had one? I do not, just read a blurb in a magazine about it. There was no real description in the article so I was also wondering if it will be a 4-wheeler or more like a Gator. Anyway, a new toy to be on the lookout for.

Seems to me that I heard a rumor about Bombardier working on a diesel ATV.

Polaris had a diesel in their line up for a while. Don't know if it is still offered. Marty

Yeah, I remember seeing an add in our local newspaper for a Polaris with a diesel engine last year. It would definitely have the benefits associated with a diesel, but the power/torque would be wasted - in my opinion. Not enough weight. I think in a vehicle that size it's important to have the guts of a big 4 stroke gasser.

The other issue with a diesel is noise. My brother just bought a Kawasaki Mule, and though he was interested in the diesel model, and was very impressed by the power, he thought it was very loud. As we will be using this during deer season to get hunters to their stands, the noise just would not do.

John Deere makes the Gator with a diesel. From what I heard it is mcuh more reliable and trouble free than the gas model.

I would think that if Kubota came out with this type of unit that it would be a work type of a machine and not a toy. I would think it would be like the Cub Cadet Big Country unit or the gator. We have not heard anything about it from our end, but yet it was three years or so from the time I saw the BX version in Europe before we were told we would have it here. Maybe we should head over there to see if they have one. Or is anyone in Euorpe watching this post?
