I am new to this forum and need some advice. I am considering the purchase of a '05 4630 (GST) with 70 hours, in LN condition. It has an LA 853 loader. The tractor is priced at $18,500. Does to sound like over-priced, fairly priced or good deal?

Thanks,
Tommy

Sounds like a very good price to me. I beleive new, a setup like that will run you between 22,000-23000 at the minimum.

Sounds good, but a lot more tractor than most people need. What are your intended uses..?

Tommy,

According to Aldermans Inc., (Aldermans) the L4630GST/LA853 loader with a standard bucket lists for almost 28k. However, most dealers sell new equipment well below list. Nevertheless, I think that a new L4630GST/LA853 would probably be at least 3K higher than 18.5K. I would say that even with 70 hours of use, $18.5K for a L4630/853 loader is a good deal. To be sure, you could contact your local Kubota dealer and price out a new L4630/LA853. If you know the local price of a new tractor/loader it would at least give you a baseline to use to determine how much you are saving by purchasing the used tractor.

Good luck with your purchase decision.

Jim.

BUY IT! A new L4630gst w/ LA853 loader is going to run you close to 30000.00. At 70 hours the tractor is just broken in. I assume the tractor is in good shape. Also, the warranty is transferrable, so that is a big plus.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I have not seen the tractor and all my info is by phone. I have talked to the owner since posting and found that the time is a little higher (132 hr.) and the transmission is a DT rather than GST. Tires are R1 rather than R4. How much does this affect the value of a used 4630?

Thanks again,
Tommy

I did not think the dt was available in 05. I thought the base transmision is the fst. Or is fst and dt the same thing?

Correct me if I'm wrong..

FST and DT is the samething. I think Kubota just want somthing that sounded different from the competitors /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Did all this information get changed on you? I would be real leary of it if that were the case... I am always nervous when I am told one thing then find out another...

From Kubota's site.
DT = Dual Traction 4wd
FST = Fully Synchronized (Main) Transmission
GST = Glide Shift Transmission

Brought the 4630 home Friday. Tractor was found to be as represented. Put a few hours pulling a harrow on it Saturday. I am very pleased so far.

Thanks again,
Tommy
