Kubota L3400
Any opinions on the Kubota L3400 they came out with this year?? From what I have seen it is a FINE piece of machinery!! Will be upgrading this fall and believe this is the route to take. Great price range too. 11-12k is pretty hard to beat. Definately rules out ole' Green. Any experiences out there with this tractor?? The dealer tells me it replaces last year's L3000.

I agree. On the basis of the specs and upgrades it does seem to be a fine machine. Where did you get the 11-12 K price, though? MSRP, I think, is $14,010. I'm also considering one.

Their a big improvement over the L-3000 series.

Is that price for the 2WD or the 4WD?

I just purchased the L3400 and take delivery Weds 5-12-04. I can't wait! I did a fair amount of research before deciding on it, but have no real tractor experience, so mine was based on expected needs and TBN information. I will post pictures and experiences as they come.

I bought my L3400 back in March this year. I love the tractor. Handles great for it's size and loads of power. I paid 10,900 for my tractor with the ag tires. They loaded the tires for free and also delivered it. I didn't get the FEL though because of being at my spending limit. I know, big mistake. I live in North Carolina and bought mine from a dealer 35 miles from the house. I had another dealer who was closer, but he wanted a 1,000 more dollars for the same setup. It was worth the extra miles. If you live close to NC I can let you know where I bought mine. Good luck, Gunman By the way, mine is 4 wheel drive.

Well you did a lot better on your price. Ours is with the loader, 4wd, 5' bush hog and 5' box blade. As a novice, are there any things I need to know not covered under the manual? I will try to be very careful with it as I have read the experience of others with accidents and mishaps. How did you break yours in, how hard can you push it when new? I'm sure the first thing you want to do is see all it can do, but maybe thats not a good idea. Thanks for any insight.

Hi Dennis, I just took delivery of my L3400 on Monday. I paid $15,995 for 4wd, 5 ft FEL and loaded tires. I scanned this site for many months before purchasing. Watched all the papers too. Pretty sure I got a decent deal, for being in New England anyway. It did appear though that you guys down south can get tractors for less than we can up here. I think the L3400 sells for $500-$1,000 less in the south. Good luck I love my tractor so far.

John, ours delivered is $16,900, L3400, 4wd, FEL,w/ 5'box blade and a 5' bush hog, tax included, loaded tires. With the blade and bush hog, about $1,000, seems we are at the same price overall. I don't know if southern prices vary that much, but if yours does not include tax, we might be just a tad lower. Good luck with yours.

The price I paid of $10,900 did not include sales tax. Figure another 7.5% for sales tax. Probably ends up in the same ball park as the rest of you guys. I have 5 hrs. on mine as of this date. I use it mainly for mowing. This is the first new tractor I have ever owned. I owned an old Bolens g152 for many years and was happy with it until parts started breaking and the cost of repairing wasn't worth the expense in keeping it. I looked at many models (NH,MF and older tractors). I drove the B7510 because I could keep all of my old implements from g152. I looked at the L3400 and knew I needed a bigger tractor for my gardens and road clearing projects. It also cut another 45 minutes off my mowing time. I am very happy with the 3400. As far as breaking in, I took the advice of several on this board. I drive in slower speeds at pto speed and after about 30 mins. I let it idle for a while. Dealer told me to break it in like I was going to use it. I let it warm up for several minutes prior to leaving the barn. I let it idle for several minutes before turning off. Don't know if this helps much . Good luck. Gunman

Thanks, there are two opinions about break ins. One is, go easy for x amount of hours, the other is drive it as you are going to use it from the start. Having built car engines, after running in the cam on a hydraulic cam, we drive it hard to seat the rings properly. Race cars engines are taken right out onto the track and thrashed from the start. I think the "go easy" thing goes back to engines in the 60's that were built with different metals and parts. I guess it depends on where you are standing as to which opinion to follow. Warm up, I agree, is the very least to do before stressing the engine. Thanks
