Kubota 2400 HSD

I never had to change any hydraulic components before- I'm not familiar w/ connections etc. There is one hose that I need to replace on my Kubota (to the front end loader). Have one ordered. When disconnecting what can you use to stop fluid leaking besides rags? Also what are some good tools for reaching into inaccesible areas? Bought some crows feet wrenches- help some. I do a lot of woodworking and Taxidermy. Mechanics are not my specialty. THANKS in advance.

Welcome. To your questions. There is no good way to not make an oily mess. You will have more oil than rags will handle so have a bucket or pan handy. You may be dealing with a quart or more of fluid. It may come from the loose line or the fitting you removed it from or both. VERY IMPORTANT turn the engine off and move the control lever in all directions to relieve pressure before you do anything. Be sure bucket is down and nothing can fall when you loosen the line. The crows feet and regular open end wrenches are about as good as you can do for access. Have you considered taking the loader off the tractor if it is a quick disconnect. That may make it easier. When you go to loosen the fittings be sure to put a wrench on both hex areas and hold one and turn the other. If you don't do that you could crack a fitting on a soldered line. They will not loosen either. Good luck and be careful. Oh yeah, wear safety goggles just incase some oil squirts.
