Hi all,

I've noticed that my bucket starts to creep forward even when it is empty. It's not the main arms - they stay level. It's just the bucket that slowly curls out. What could the problem be?

Dirty Hydraulic Fluid more than likely has fouled or ruined the seals/o-rings of the controller and/or the cylinders. Clean or rebuild

May I suggest adding an Inline Spin On Oil Filter to the Low Pressure / Suction side of the hydraulic system. It will filter those small metal particles that cause undue wear of the system. High use systems really need them.

hi again "Queen Of Spades",

attached is a picture of a Remote_Spin-On_Oil_Filter_Mount, they cost about $40.00 US and can be purchased at almost any local Auto Parts Store. they use a standard Chevy V-8 spin on oil filter. finding/making a mount location and getting the fittings and non-collapsible rubber hose will be the hardest thing to do. higher micron filters are available to remove the smallest of particles, they will cost more (check flow rates).

Remember, it is to be mounted on the Suction Line that runs from the transmission to the Hydraulic Pump. my YM already uses a rubber hose splice on that line, so doing it is pretty easy and straight forward. the suction line is the larger tubing that has the screen at transmission that should be cleaned at every oil change.

this may seem like an over kill, not in my opinion though. knowing the oil is kept as clean as possible, even before it reaches the pump, should give confidence the hydraulic system wear will be at an absolute minimum. also knowing the seals will not get debris buildup that causes leaks / seepage.

hurm, the engine uses a decent filter, why not the tranny. fixing the root cause is the best fix.

rhett, could you show a pic. of it on your tractor?

My main concern with an engine filter is flow rates. You don't want to starve the pump. I have a tractor hydraulic filter assembly that is a little more money, but has a washable filter & a magnet in it

Leonard, I am looking into this kind of modification, but my immediate concern is space to locate the assembly, as well as vulnerable components added low down where they are exposed to brush and such.

can you give me some idea of the size of the mounting and filter? and kind of schema to point to? Thanks, Edward
