FINALLY...one of all three of ours in one photo. The red tabby on top is Gizmo...4 year old male and rescued from under a neighbor's shed at 3 months old. The middle one is a she calico, Misty...adopted from a 92 year old lady who found a litter of barn cats a mile away. Misty is just over 7 months old. The black and white one is Zeke...6 years old and adopted at 11 weeks when his feral mother abandoned him.

Very nice cats Bill. You are giving them a good, long life.

Well, Misty will be the boss soon if she isn't already.

I like the orange mixed into your middle cat - from the one above? We have a couple with orange thrown in!

Someone will probably say different but it is my understanding that all calico cats are female.

I stand corrected.

My father-in-law always said there are no male calico cats; they are for sure very rare. A person could go their entire life without encountering one so it would be normal to think they don't exist. I think modern genetic studies provides insights that didn't exist earlier.

The male calico cat has a genetic defect involving the X and Y chromosomes which determines gender. I think I read somewhere that male calico cats don't have a clear male or female ****** identity, sort of like transgender humans.

Bill, your kitty's look pretty happy on that "cat tower". Did you make that, or is it store bought?

Cats ... I sure enjoy them!! They simply sooth me .. Relaxing to have one get on your lap and purr .. We've got a house cat, a porch cat and 6 barn cats .. I'm amazed at the barn cats they get close but can never touch them and for some reason they always stay at the barn .. I was sure they would make the porch and call it home!!

A purring cat on my lap will put me to sleep. I have 8 of them. At one time I had 14, but 6 got re-homed.

Store purchased at Goodwill, $9.63 with tax. Thank you to all for the kind comments...if it wasn't so difficult for cats to accept a newcomer I would have several more rescued felines.

Oh that was a bargain. I have seen other store bought cat towers that don't look as good as that one for about $50 or more. Kitty's also like the sisal rope wound up the posts for scratching. I have made several of that type of scratching posts over the years for our kitty's and they sure like them. Much better than just the carpeted posts. I use carpet for the horizontal pieces, but the vertical's need rope covering for maximum kitty satisfaction.
