Kioti DK35 SE HST (2011)
I've deciphered most strange entries in the DK35/40/45/50 manual but this warning on page 4-29 still has me stumped:

WARNING
The durability of the axle can be deteriorated if only one brake pedal is depressed during the 4WD is activated. It is more effective to use the quick turn function, rather than the brake (one side) pedal, during the 4WD is activated and to use the brake (one side) pedal during the quick turn function is activated.

(Please note: I accurately typed this handy little tip):)

So.....

1st question: what is the quick turn function?

2nd question: does the quick turn function exist?

The 2nd question is because in listing the specifications for the DK35/40 on page 3-8 and the DK45/50 on page 3-9 they show a line for "Quick Turn (QT)" and indicate it is "None" on all models.

3rd question: Is the Kioti manual writer on bad drugs?:confused2:

I would imagine doing a quick turn, spin the tractor around by using one brake, would be hard when in 4wd. The front and rear wheels would be no where close to the same ground speed and that would put a good amount of stress on the driveline unless maybe on ice or slippery mud.

I didn't know tractors had a quick turn function other than the one brake turn. Oh, maybe they mean turn the steering wheel fast.

I thought Kioti had fixed their manuals from the one I received with mine back in 2005. Members used to say the manuals were written in Korenglish or something similar. I guess they are still trying to learn English. :)

Well, I have to admit their English is much better than my Korean (i.e. none). Still, one wonders why they don't have the USA office edit and revise the English manual.

And I really do wonder what the Quick Turn function is that they mention in the specifications and operating instructions.

I worked for Littletractor.com the #1 dealer in the us for 3 1/2 years so i know more about kiotis than most people, their parts look-up has always been screwed up but is getting better. we ended up with wrong part #'s all the time and hated ordering and would call first but even their tech's have a hard time with their manuals. About the soft metal i read about on here
IT was a major problem a few years ago, i have had to install a few hundred loaders and backhoes and either the holes would not line up on the brackets meaning we would waller out the holes to get bolts to start or they would come back later with the threads stripped out of the frames and blocks. Syncro problems in the trannys, pto clutchs not working even on new models. Lets just say the repair shop always had 3 or 4 in it with something wrong, now all makes have problems and they are decent tractors for the price but will never match a deere or kubota IMO!!!!

I'm inclined to think this post is BS..

there is an idiot light in the manual that is labeled "Quick turn". but there is little else stated about what this quick turn is or does.

I know that this idiot light does NOT exist on my tractor, so i guess its either not included with the HST units or is an option.

I find no mention of it in the service manual. very odd. That being said, i know the single pedal use while in 4wd is not a good idea. it was frowned upon in my old JD manual also. funny thing is i haven't even disengaged the brakes on my tractor since i got it. No need, as it turns so sharply on its own.

I do like the translations in the manual though...makes for fun reading. I wonder what an English manual translated into Korean would read like to the Koreans???

Just for a lark, i went and emailed Kioti support the same question you asked. ill let you know if they respond to it. Im interested to know wht the quick turn thingy is too.

So.....

My brash interpretation says do not QT in 4WD.

1st question: what is the quick turn function?

Having Cruse Control engaged, the dual brake pedals seperated, and turning by braking.

2nd question: does the quick turn function exist?

Yes, it is having the Cruse Control engaged, the dual brake pedals seperated, and turning by braking.

The 2nd question is because in listing the specifications for the DK35/40 on page 3-8 and the DK45/50 on page 3-9 they show a line for "Quick Turn (QT)" and indicate it is "None" on all models.

They have no data for this entry

3rd question: Is the Kioti manual writer on bad drugs?:confused2:

No, she is a very diligent employee of the company with english language skills (albeit very bad ones) and this has impressed those around her to flattering degrees only complementing the tight fitting slacks and short skirts she wears to the office. Remember, those around her have none of these skills and , therefore, have no means to gauge her. She is simply following handed down orders from her superiors and and transcribing descriptions as best she can or, obviously, needs to. She is a very highly respected employee so be careful what you say or they will come and take back your tractor. :confused3:

Again: My brash interpretation says do not QT in 4WD.
