Well,

I bought a 6' HD KK rear blade Saturday..........I sold my 6' Bush Hog SBX720 box blade and put the money on the rear blade, with money left over in my pocket.........I have to say, for the one time that i've used it I am VERY satisfied with it.........MUCH better than the box blade I had........Especially for $351.00 out the door.

Travis,

I have been using a box scraper with good success. I have an oportunity to purchase a used rear blade at a very good price. What advantage or other uses could I get out of the rear blade?

Thanks, Alan

Travis,
Why do you say the back blade is better? After using the box balde and back blade what makes you prefer the back blade. I think it all has to do with what kind of ground you are working and what you are trying to do with the ground. The only advantage I can see is the side tilt factor. I personally prefer the Box scraper for 90% of the work I do.

i used my rear blade on my driveway a bunch. It has distinct advantage over a box blade as you can angle the blade left/right to pull/push gravel to one side.

ie try to pull gravel from the edge of the driveway and deposit it in the center (for crown say) with a BB... you just dont do it....

i can add wings to my (large) blade to act like a box blade (in moving material)

My box blade is better than my rear blade for some things...buy my rear blade is better than the box for others.

I would not want to be without either...I WILL NOT be without either...:D

Add gage wheels to the rear blade and you may even like it more. I know I do now that I added gage wheels to my rear blade...

It is my understanding that box blades and rear blades are different tools for different jobs. I guess there is some crossover.

Henro,

Can you describe your guage wheels? Did you make them or were they purchased? I have been wanting to put some on my back blade to help prevent gouging and better control moving rock on my driveway. Just haven't figured out the best way ... yet.
