Thank you I would love to see it

Life is to short to not live where you love it. :D Or at least go see the things you'd like to. I'm from the great plains and can't appreciate the snow they get, then its gone and the wind blows 80% of the time. My spouse is from the north side of the little lake were its overly cool over the winter, yet they still need air conditioning during the summer, so we decided to reside here.

Amen brother! I could live up there. I would just have to have lots of cold weather hobbies. Ice fishing, snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing. I have always wanted to do that sport where you are on skis and you have 1 or 2 doggie companions that help pull you along. I have always wanted to have a sauna (and actually need it!) My ex GF's house had an awesome sauna room in the basement with a shower and awesome wood fired sauna. Maple syrup production in the spring! Salmon fishing on Lake Superior! Amazing deer hunting. The main reason I could live up there is cause it is God's country, 365 days a year you are surround by the splendors of nature. I now live in SE Tennessee, so no snow sports for us. We got 4 inches of snow last Saturday, it was fun for the 3 hours it lasted.

Wish you could send a bit of that snow down state, nine months of ‘mud’ season wears a guy out.
If I could transplant my place to the UP I would probably end up somewhere between you and Marquette but at nearly 77, we make do with our AirStream portable cottage known as the ‘Troll House’ and find our way to da UP several times a year.

B. John

That's actually Copper Peak ski flying hill who has a pretty nice web page . We were there for an old snowcat festival held a few weeks ago. More info and photos about that can be found here.

You DO have some great snow pictures Arlyn. Here, we are back to frozen green grass in the morning and afternoon mud. The snow, what little we had, is gone, even in the shaded areas. Brownie is sad - he enjoyed eating the snow.

I don't follow John D but do know him. He is the president of a local snowmobile club and I work for them, grooming sled trails.

I'm one of the groomer operators for our snowmobile club. Don't see many Pisten Bullys around here, mostly Tuckers.

This organization had a Tucker brought out by a dealer some years ago and broke it. They don't speak highly of them today....

The only issue we've had with ours is that it tends to eat tracks. We have some very steep trails here, and in order to pull the drag up those long, steep hills we have to tighten them much more than is recommended...if we don't they slip on the cogs.
We did modify the track assemblies to maintain alignment better with the tracks tight.

We went for a ski today at a NFS campground a bit south of us. They had good snow but this area is far out of the lake zone. This CG trail we take care of for the NFS. As we went south, the temps dropped about 8 degrees. Here is a few photos but more are on our dogs blog. Yes, the dogs have a blog...

What a contrast. So lush & green in the summer- so much snow in the winter. As usual, the dogs seem to be having a good time also.

We went for a ride yesterday with some friends who were all on sleds, to see an interesting cabin one of them knew the owner of. We rode to the middle branch of the Ontonagon river. This is all on forest roads in the Ottawa NF and a few miles north of Bruce crossing MI. The 4th photo is fresh wolf tracks. The 2nd to the last one is side-by-side parked in the yard. This place is really a mess..... These was an ancient little international cat parked there that I tried to get a photo of but didn't,
