I was digging out a old septic tank this weekend and the hoe just got slower and slower on trying to pick up the bucket with the main boom ram. Finnally it just stopped and I had to empty the bucket and it took about 10 minutes just to get the boom out of the hole. Everything else works fine curling, side to side, front loader etc. Fluid level is fine. I thinking maybe the HYD ram is bypassing. Any ideas?

Rick

Well, a failed piston seal inside the main boom cylinder is a
possibility. Or a failed spool valve in your control stack.

What is your hydraulic source to power the hoe: power beyond loop
to your CK25's hydraulic block or factory remote valve or ?

Does your engine strain or main relief valve make noise when
operating the boom circuit?

Not sure on the hydraulic source, just what ever is standard on a CK25. It has just two hoses that the BH hooks two behind the seat. There is no engine strain and the relief valve sounds fine.

Thanks, Rick

There are 2 standard ways to power a hoe on the CK25/CK30.
The better way is with the factory remote valve and the QA
connectors in the rear. You set the yellow-handled valve to the
detent position when operating the hoe. Your dealer may have
installed the less expensive connection to the main hydraulic
block. Since you say that other circuits work OK, your hyd
source is not the problem.

If you have narrowed your possible causes down to either the
cylinder piston seals or the valve spool, then you can test if
the valve is delivering fluid by disconnecting a hose. Hopefully
the culprit is the piston seal as that is easier to fix.

Sounds like you've got some type of restriction between the spool and the cylinder for the boom. If it was the cylinder packing or piston the boom would not stay up. I have seen strange things in hydraulic systems, like pipe plugs stuck in elbows, severely pinched hoses, etc. This sounds more probable than anything. If all other functions work then it's down to just the spool not opening fully or restricted hoses to the boom cylinder. Take the cover off and make sure the spool has full travel first. Probably a loose adjustment between the lever and the spool. Good luck.

Country, the boom will bleed off to the ground in about 40 minutes, that is why I'm pretty sure it is a seal in the ram.
Thanks, Rick
