Kawasaki Mule rebuild!

I heard they used three different mufflers over the years on the 2510. I have one that does not fit so I put thin metal over the hole in mine to quiet it some.

I tried to source a stock muffler, the one I found was stupid expensive,
The one I used was on a junk Chinese 4wheeler, it is very quiet.

I got to work on the Mule again today.
20251124_165846.jpg

Installed the new master cylinder.
Bled the brakes and they feel great.

Put the shifter back on and installed a new shift cable. The po destroyed the shift tower.

So I made a cover to clean things up.
20251124_165859.jpg

Hooked the shift cable to the transmission so I could fabricate a bracket to hold the cable.

The cable and brackets were missing when I bought the Mule, so all of this is my rendition of what it should be, I downloaded some pics from the internet but none really show the brackets well.
Everything got a coat of paint today, so Ill assemble it tomorrow. And hopefully it will move under its own power!

Most of the original shifter is missing, the po was pretty rough on it!
20251126_164306.jpg

So I mocked up some cardboard into what I think it should have looked like!
20251126_164315.jpg

I made a cover for the battery also.

This is much more streamlined than the stock setup.

I want to add a drink holder to the top and a guard to protect the diff lock. Hoping that I can cut some steel friday!

Guy down the street brought home one of those JDeere's. It was in pretty rough shape, and while he hasn't did the work you have done on yours, he does have it running and operating. New tires alone were a huge improvement over the previous ones that you could almost see the air in!
He wants to do a tug of war between the Gator and my Toro Workman. I have horsepower, weight and tire size on him, but his is 4wd. I keep telling him when he can put 2000 pounds in the back of his, then we will hook the trailer hitches together and see who can drag who!
He is a body repair and painter by trade, so when he gets done, it should look almost as good as yours!

Thanks Yanmars, I like the feedback!

Sandman, I had one of those neighbors once, I pulled him down the road in his 4x4 70 chevy 350 4 speed with a granny gear, my 76 chevy dually, 454 automatic. He learned a bit that day.
Im getting close to setting the body panels back on mine, I am not a fan of the headlight area on the 550, so I have a couple of thoughts going around inside my head. My neighbor keeps telling me to leave it stock and just drive it.

This is my last build, I don't like just leaving things stock.

It started out almost as bad as the Mule.

Its just me, I have always changed things.

My Mule has the shift lever on the dash. One of the things I don't like about mine is that I always catch on the parking brake when I get out of it. I wish it was on the dash too. I don't think I would like having the shift lever and the parking brake in the path of getting off of the seat every time.

I guess I am on the opposite side of the fence. I seldom modify anything, keep most things stock. I might add on an accessory but almost always make it to where it can be reversed. Just me...
