recent re-ring and bearing ( was run out of oil) got lucky only the bearing was ruined..........After 4hrs of break in changed the oil and the filter looked as if no oil ever entered it ?? However oil was so clear unsure, did not cut into yet, will tomorrow. Is it possible for oil not to enter the filter yet oil circulates in the engine as it should ????? thanks Ken

I'd think a certain amount of oil would drain out of the filter if indeed oil had entered it. Not sure what is up.
I drained engine for quite some time before removing filter, so possibly it drained the filter ? and with the oil still so clear, possibly just didn't see it. I put filter upside down on clean shop towel only oil I saw for sure was around the rubber seal. Will remove the filter first on next change, thanks for the reply

A quick way to tell if oil is getting the the oil filter is to fill the engine with the proper amount of oil, leave the oil filter off and disable the ignition system by in plugging coils, or spark plug wires and crank the engine over. There should be a healthy amount of oil coming out were the filter screws on. Quick but messy way of telling if oil is flowing to the filter.
I would only crank it with the starter and not allow the engine to start for obvious reasons. Lol
