K3 Engine Compatibility

Hi all,

I have an International 254, which I believe is basically identical to an MTE2000D, but I think the Mitsubishi used a different engine (K3F vs K3E for the International).

I had a guy look into the engine on mine and one cylinder is badly scored, which is causing a lot of smoke and blowby and keeping it from running decently. I'm looking around for rebuild kits/parts, but they're pretty scarce. I'd also consider swapping the engine for a used one, but replacements seem to be somewhat rare as well.

Does anyone know if any of the other K3 series (D, F, etc) would fit/match up where the K3E is? It might help my search for a replacement if there were a few more potential options.

Also, you might try a Case-IH dealer. The K3E was also used in the 255, made 1986-1990; the Cub Cadet 7192/3/4/5 made 1995-1997. Welcome to TBN!

I had the K3D engine in my Mitsu MTE1800FD rebuilt last winter. Poor starting and Low compression on 2 cylinders. I believe the mechanic ordered a kit from Southern-Global in Miss. Had the local machine shop create sleeves for it. Still the last hard part was getting the seals that fit between the end mains and the block. They were very late getting here. Total bill with r & r the front loader and r & r the engine was $4600 +. Starts nearly as good as my RTV-900 now.

Wow - That's not nothing Glad to hear it worked out well, though.

Hopefully if I do the R&R myself the engine assembly and machining won't be too terribly spendy.

I have had good success with engine parts from NCW Tractor Parts, LLC I've bought a larger hydraulic pump, new crank and rod bearings, rings and all seals and gaskets from them for my K3F.

I have K3e valves intake and exhaust will sell for 50 plus shipping i had to get valves for k3d
