It would seem to me that a box blade mounted on the front end wouldn't be much different than pushing a loader bucket with teeth on it. What would be different is it would be easier to keep the ground more level and smooth.
I don't have a BB, but I wouldn't be concerned about bending the FEL frame if I did.
The argument of being able to pull more than you can push reminds me of the age old question about the horse and plow. For those who never heard it before it is: Does a horse push or pull a plow? For those who don't know, a horse pushes a plow.
