Just ordered a new JD2320

I wanted to thank you guys for your help. I just ordered a new 2320. Here’s the breakdown

2320 $11,800
200cx Loader $2400
62D mowing deck $2375
Loaded tires $240
48” woods box blade $500
Total $17315 with tax about 18,200.

They had to order it so I’m not sure yet when it will be in. Hopefully soon.

Where you able to actually see one/operate it before the purchase? Just curious how you ended up getting that model.

Actually I started off looking at a JD riding mower. My wife and I are in the process of building a house. We have 5 hilly acres and she is looking to bring her 2 horses that she now boards over to the property. As we moved forward with the house it became clear we needed more than a riding mower.

I started looking at the JD 2305 and was in a bit of sticker shock. After I realized I needed more machine than a riding mower and got over the fact that I was going to need to spend more money, I started doing some research on TBN.

I test drove a Massey GC2310, a Kubota bx23 and bx24, and the JD2305. I was actually sold on the Kubota bx23 and then the JD dealer got a 2320. He called me up and told me to check it out. Once I drove it I knew it was the right tractor.

The last couple weeks I’ve been going back and forth about getting it or not. It’s really more than I’m comfortable spending with the new house and all. Also I’ve never had a tractor and it kind of seems more than I need.

However with everything I’ve read hear and the fact that I’ve never been a home/property owner I believe I’ve made the right decision. If I’m anything like you guy’s I’ll probably be reposting in a couple of months wishing I got something bigger, lol.

A farmer once told me "big tractors can do little jobs, but small tractors can't do big jobs" and I know what his point was, larger equipment is nice and especially if you are on the boarder line of what you really need. Conversely, I do feel you can over buy as well.

I think in your situation where some significant loader work will occur and 3-point grading etc., will be required you will enjoy the ride.

Congrats! It will be a great setup for new construction on 5 acreas.

I can imagine your agony spending another almost $20k while completing a new home, but I can assure you it is absolutely the best time in terms of projects justification, usefulness, and helping to accellerate the thousands of post home building projects. Now that I've got my 2305, I'm kicking myself for not getting sooner.

You're going to like your 2320 I'm sure. I could have gotten by with the 2305, it's a great sub-cut but the extra ground clearance of the 2320 is nice, the hydro filter does not hang down near the ground like the 2305 and the exposed plastic hydro cooling fan of the 2305 is not an issue. The 62D OnRamp MMM is fantastic. Great cut and easy to install and remove.

Congrats Tim... I ordered a 2520 last Jan (showed up March-06) and have been thrilled with the tractor. Getting over price of course is the toughest part of the deal . There are very few days that I feel like I bought to much tractor. One suggestion though... find a 54" box blade rather than your 48" so it'll cover up your tire tracks.

The hardest thing to do is spend yet more money when building a house. I made the mistake of cutting back a few bucks here and there at the time and now I wish I hadn't. As far as the tractor, you won't regret it at all. It will save you time, money, and body. I am hoping to retire in the next couple of years and intend to have good equipment to play with. After all, you won't take it with you when they throw dirt in your face at the end. Have fun at your new place!!

Thanks for the support everybody. I was more nervous yesterday because of all the money I just spent, than I was excited. The nerves have settled a bit and the excitement level has kicked into high gear.

I appreciate the advice shawk. I just called the salesman and left him a message about the larger box blade. You make a good point about wheel base. Hopefully it’s not too late to swap them. I’ll see if he can give me an estimated ETA. Did I mention I’m getting excited now!
